Picked it up new from Reliable Gun & Tackle on April 10, 2010

Installed a new hogue grip as well.

Question I noticed that on the sites the center dot paint(?) has a tiny chip in it. I didn't take a pic of that chip yet but I was wondering if I should bring it up with Reliable and ask them to take care of it or is this something I can fix myself?

Beauty! I would give Reliable a call ASAP and see what they say first. You shouldn't have to fix anything yourself if it's brand new. They're stand-up guys there and should be able to help you out.

lol..get off my thread!!

They would likely just degrease the sight and put in a new drop of white paint. Yeah, they would do it but for me it wouldn't be worth the trip instead of just doing it myself.

On my own 75 with the three white dots I hate the two on the rear. Going to fill 'em in with some black paint and just leave the front. Or better yet I may opt for a super bright flourescent green if I can find some that will work well. It's just too confusing for action shooting to lift the gun up and see a salad of white dots after shooting my red fiber and no rear dot Shadow. The point here being that I'd just leave it for the moment or fix it yourself. But don't be afraid to play with different options of fewer or no dots and even different colours to find what works for you the best.

I am with BC Rider. I hate the three dot system. If you are shooting at cardboard targets definitely get a FO front sight in either red or green. Failing that go for the flourescent paint.

Oh, and by the way, a hearty congrats on a superb choice. I've shot a bunch of various brands and chose my Shadow. Recently while jonesing around for a second 9mm I went through the same exercise again with shooting a bunch of different options. Nothing mainstream really jumped out at me. Then at a recent gun show at Chilliwack I happened across my new older mid to late 90's 75 (no "b" back then) for a good price and jumped on it. I'm more than happy that I did. It's lighter by enough that it feels "the same but different" to shooting my Shadow.

I'll likely still get something else at some point but for the foreseeable future I'm more than happy with my stable of two CZ's to satisfy my 9mm cravings.

BC Rider you know you won't stop at two. Have you a stainless, 97B or a 75B in .40ccal? did I mention a Phantim????:D No 85 Combat yet...

Nice gun you have there, bonus for the Hogue grips. If the chip bothers you ,talk to the guys at Reliable, they will make it right. Check them out for ammo as well.

Congrats on a fine choice.
For what it's worth, I'm not crazy those sights either. I go cross-eyed lining up the little dots... Paint out the rear sight and re-dot the front or replace it with fiber optic.

Any suggestions on a particular brand of fiber optic sites? example of prices as well?

anyone know of any shops in vancouver (and surrounding area) that has inexpensive 9mm for sale?

You're in luck. Not 5 minutes before seeing this post I was looking at the Lever Arms website. They've got Blazer ammo on sale at $14 a box in lots of 500. That's as cheap as I've seen it since I first started shooting a year and a half ago.

To keep it compatible with any matches you may want to shoot in later on such as IPSC you'll want to stick to factory sights. Ghost Products ( http://czcustom.com/ )sells a number of options. Now I may be mistaken but I think you need to get the matching rear sight as well. Otherwise the front ends up too tall and your shots go low. I'll happily stand corrected on this if I'm wrong.

Providing your pistol is shooting to point of aim with the stock sights, it should be a simple matter to match the front sight height with a fiber optic front from czcustom. I think there's a few heights to choose from. If you want to change the complete set (front and rear) that's also permitted under production class rules. You can use any open sights (not limited to the OFM) so long as they fit into the existing cutouts. You can't modify the slide in any way.
