My new Dan Wesson PM7

I just got my new Dan Wesson PM7. It is my first 1911. I did lots of research before made up my mind to go for DW. I have considered a few other manufacturers such as Kimber (don't worth the price), STI (too expensive), Colt (can't get a new one anywhere), Para Ordinance (I heard not very reliable), Dlask (beginner don't need a custom).

I am very happy with my PM7. I want to get a 1911 with steel frame and brown wooden grip and it fits my requirement right out of the box. I can't wait take it to the range. On a second thought, maybe I should get a bob tail instead of PM7. However, I like a full size than a compact.

The only complain I have is disassembling the 1911. It's much harder to disassemble than my Glock. :)

Dan Wesson (DW) semiautomatic pistols are more or less handmade. Why do I say this? DW only produces about 10 per day. Regards, Richard:)

Is your barrel bushing ridiculously hard to remove? A buddy of mine bought a Razorback as his first 1911, and asked me to give him pointers on disassembly. We had a stupid hard time getting the thing apart, the flimsy bushing wrench really didn't help any... Is this your experience as well? Common to all DW 1911s?
 
I've wanted one for a while now, just need a little more money and I'll probably put in a backorder from ArmsEast! How long are the wait times for these???

I haven't try to remove the barrel bushing myself yet. But I get the guy at the gun shop show me how to disassemble it, it took him a while to get the barrel bushing out.
 
Nice choice. You'll love it. I absolutely love mine. They are indeed very tight and harder to disassemble them most 1911's new. That will change after you put a couple thousand rounds down range with it. They get silky smooth baby!
 
personally, I prefer a tight gun, What I want to know if the slide/frame fit after a few thousand rnds stays tight, especially they are made from stainless, I really like to get one, just need your feedback, thanks
 
Super choice with the DW!

I bought a DW Bobtail from ArmsEast a couple of months ago and am totally beside myself with happiness - check out my post/review of this gun on this forum (pics included).

I personally have had no barrel bushing trouble - it comes out like it's supposed to, but it is snug.

If I didn't already own what is basically the same gun as the PM7 made by Dlask, I'd be buying one too - the value for the money is unbeatable.

Happy shooting and be sure to break 'er in properly.

And feel free to call DW - they will take time to talk to you about any issues you have - you actually get to speak to the guys who build and fix the guns.
 
I've been wanting another 1911 and aimed for a Nighthawk or a Wilson but realized that they were a little on the lofty side for me. So, I considered the 'all dressed' Norinco 1911 as 'cheap' way to satisfy the urge. Sorry. I guess I am a gun snob. I just can't do it. The PM7 is absolutely one beautiful pistol and I really think it's under priced!!! Like someone said, semi-custom pistol at a production price. Mmmmm, one of AE's latest arrival of PM7's is now mine, mine, mine. :cool: :evil:
