Hey guys, I just picked up a Fabarm Martial Composite from P&D. I love this thing already :D . It has a 14" barrel. I have a Mossberg Mariner 500, and the reason I got the Fabarm is because the mossberg's pump is located too far forward for me.

I have yet to shoot it, but I was loading some dummies into it, and I noticed it is much harder to load compared to the mossberg as the bracket which is part of the action hangs down when the action is closed, this makes loading a two handed affair. I tried loading the dummies with one hand, and it ended up pinching my finger HARD!!

Also, I am a f@#king moron. I was taking the plug out of the tube, and pushing the spring back in. Well that spring is loaded pretty hard, and i lost my grip on it and it hit me right in the f#$king eye. Now I have some broken blood vessels in my shooting eye.

The fit and finish on this thing is head and shoulders above my mossberg, and it fits me better. Now I just have to figure out how to load the magazine tube with one hand.

freddo - thx. Yeah I wear safety glasses all day at work, also when I shoot. But I almost blinded myself on the couch. I did put safety glasses on after that happened though.

Congrats on the new shotgun!

Here's the procedure to load the shotgun while it is shouldered with the barrel pointing down left:

- Hold a shell flat across your fingers, between the ring and index finger. The brass touching the ring finger the other end toward the index finger.

- Bring your left hand under the elevator (the bracket that pinched your thumb). Bring your hand up: the shell will push the elevator up.

- Hold the shell up and bring your thumb behind the brass, while keeping the index finger on both the shell and receiver.

- Push the shell while bending your thumb at the first joint behind the fingernail in order to keep the elevator up.

- Once the shell is locked in, bring your thumb back a bit and then down.

I hope it make sense..!

AFAIK Mossberg (And Maverick, their budget brand) is the only shotgun company that uses an elevator that doesn't hang down when the chamber is closed.

I don't know WHY. It's a great feature. It annoys me that nobody else bothers to implement it.

The old High Standard shotguns also have this feature. It is definately one of the things I like about them.

I kinda fingured it out, I just used my thumb instead of my fingers. I was practicing a bit. It takes a little more technique than the mossberg, but I'm getting the hang of it.

These Fabarms are nice shotguns, I can't wait to try it out. Anyone wanna buy a mossberg 500 Mariner?

PS- Yan thanks for the tips. I will have to try your method

Dude, that Fabarm of yours ROCKS!!!!!! Only now am I starting to feel it in my shoulder from those slug loads....

Fast & smooth action too... Definately on my "Considerable options" list....

yeah my shoulder is a little sore as well. It's worth the pain though.

Santa- Sorry to tell you, but I sold the Mossy to Fed007. He did come through with the money for me. Sorry man.
