So I bought my first gun from Doug on the boards here......wicked shotgun to tell you the truth, I really love the feel of this big bored shotgun in my hands, its almost as if I am ready to take on a little town of zombies :D

I all ready mastered the dissasembly of the gun, 10 times over now. and its super easy!

I am ready to fire some rounds. actually several hundred! :D

One thing bothers me......for the love of god I cant locate any used old bent or broken barrels for my self. My intensions are to get a used one or crappy one and cut it down to size, about 20" to make my self a defender barrel.
Then add on the mag extension and pistol grip and other neat goodies!

I called every one in my area and no one seems to have any. can any one point me in the right direction?? please!

Also does any one know or seen a winchester 1200 bolt mechanism painted black.......right now its silver with a light checkering on it ( I do believe the checkering is from the surface grinder when it was machined when it was first made ) - Just curious............

Also any cheap places to go for after market add ons for the winchester 1200 ( I am aware it takes rem 870 mods too ) so thats a bonus!

thank you guys :D :D :D

I had the same idea with my 1200 WinChoke and also couldn't find a spare barrel or two to "modify". I ended up getting a second 1200 (cheap), cutting it to 18.5", putting on a pistol grip and blazing away :D When time permits, I'll add an extended mag, top folder stock and "heat shield" for that bad-ass look ;)

1200 shotgun

As far as I know, the barrel of the 1200 is the same as the win 1300 EXCEPT that the 1200 is not rated for 3'' shotshell. I have for trade a win 1300 18 1/2 barrel with ventilated rib. I want a 1300 compatible barrel WITHOUT vented rib. But if you install a 1300 barrel on your 1200 shotgun, DON'T shoot 3'' shotshell:eek:

Thanks

Sametwinnie showed my wife what a vent ribbed looks like as you mentioned you wanted a smooth barrel and will trade your short for her smooth she doesnt like the vent rib she says its "bugly" lol so i am in the same bout i am looking for a 18.5 inch smooth top barrel to fit a win 120 the key factor is CHEAP

Yes, your wife is right. It is "bugly" for a tactical shotgun:rolleyes:
But the only reason why I want to change, is weight!!
This will become my kayak/camping family gun; so weight is a real factor.

thank you for the replies guys..........I still havent founda resonable barrel. I got a pm not long ago but it needs work done to it, and its all ready more then I am willing to pay!

thank you any way guys
