My new forend and stock for my Grizz 8.5!

Well I have had my Grizz for a month or two and wasnt sure which way I was going to go with it. I seen a 870 with the laminate stock and liked it but the forend wouldnt work and would need to be chopped to work, I thought there couldnt be much to get it fit. Boy I was wrong! I found the stock set on the EE here and started chopping, sanding, and grinding and 5 hours later I finally got it to fit! It still needs to be refinished, and I have to sand out the checkering on the forend as I had to cut through the middle of it and looks goofy. I also had a little oops with the dremel as you can see in the one pic, but it will just need to be refinished and it will be good to go. Anywho here are the pics, tell me what you think!

Oh one more thing, what should I use to refinish the stock? Thanks
 
:rockOn: Love a nice short barreled shotgun, and than when you make it look like that its even more gorgeous! Theirs a pretty cute looking Woodstock Winchester defender I saw on EE with an 18''ish barrel and a side saddle and it looked mean ###y! this looks even meaner! have you got to try out the sights on that bad boy?
 
i like the look of wood . nice job on the for-end. i cut a for-end down for a 8.5 dlask and it was an hour job in a fully equipped machine shop.mine was synthetic . yours is far nicer looking .

Hope these pics are beter, as you can see I still need to refinish it, you can see my little oops with the dremel (I did all the work with it)

As you can see in the last pic were I had to cut through the checkering, I will have to sand that out. Its not deep so it shouldnt be a problem. Hope these pics are ok
 
you mag want to get some davcon epoxy and fill in the top on the forend a little, or lay a sheet or 2 of carbon fiber or fiberglass.
As that forend is not going to last long with that little amount of wood on top.
Other then that it looks good

It is thin, but it has to be. If I had it much thicker there, it will rub on the bottom of the barrel, I dont have the room to get anything in there to stiffen it up. The stock one looks like mine does too.
 
Looks like you could relieve a bit more wood around the action bars to allow you to center it.

I wouldn't worry about the thickness as the shoulders will hold it.
