Hello all !

Finally I found and bought from other CGN member Glock 19 with Canadian barrel. Seller is in Alberta and I am in Quebec.

;) Now the funny part begins - We finished our deal on Thursday last week, seller called to CFC, after I called to CFC and it was around 4:00pm when lady from CFC told me that now your transaction has been completed and you will receive your transfer papers in a few weeks by mail .........

Today, Tuesday, two business days after the initial date, at noon I found in my mail box Autorization to transport and Notification of transfer for my new Glock :)

I am surprised how quick CFC office works in Quebec now. And exactly the same situation happend with me two month ago when I was buying my Beretta.

What is going on ? Everything getting better comparing to "good" old times when you could wait up to 6 weeks for your paperwork ? :D

It should be instant transfer. How many times are they going to run the same checks on you?

If its your first one ok - some delay but any after that it doesn't make sense.

Thats for all CFO btw.

That is my fourth Restricted transfer.

So now it is more clear for me. I was assuming that everytime I do restricted transfer here in QC everything should go again from scratch...
By the way the reason I am saying Quebec is because Quebec is always special :D Bill 9 exam for example is MUST do for all restricted owners here in QC. And many other special moments which are OK lets say in Alberta will be no no here

Well that is good news about transfer goes fast :)
Now I am waiting my new toy in the mail and hopefully I'll get it before weekend !

its quick because Alberta is involved. If you bought it from Ontario or Quebec you would still be waiting for a few more weeks.

I don't know if that always holds true, doesn't the Quebec CFO have to approve the transfer, not Alberta? I just bought a 1911 from BC. Transfer initiated yesterday, I called and completed it at CFC yesterday, called the Alberta CFO today to be sure they didn't need anything from me and was told it will be processed today in the routine pile of paper, with no special treatment. 2 days start to finish seems reasonable to me for a government department...

The CFO may be on the wrong side of the fence, but at least the service is not currently a PITA, timewise.

It's true.

FYI to the OP, if you haven't passed the new CFO's safety test (forget the name, but it's just a re-hashed CRFSC), you'll need that first.

You're looking at a minimum three month wait time, from what I hear in the CGN circle (among other folks, too).

Good luck! :D

handguns are no longer the flavour of the week when it comes to mass paranoia at the SQ. Go buy yourself an AR and see how long that takes. It took me 3 months. I transferred a half dozen handguns in 2 days, but an AR held up the show for 9 weeks.

I have your answer, I have a transfer pending for a cz858-4v (restricted, from wolverine) for 2 months! And im not going to talk about AR...
