I liked my Glock 17 so much I went out and got a new Glock 22c with the ported barrel and adjustable sights, great gun as far as accuracy and recoil, but I wouldnt ever shoot it without safety glasses, stuff spits out of the porting every once and awhile one small piece hitting me in the thumb.

So have you shot a Glock 22 for comparison, do the ports reduce recoil significantly, or just.. meh.
I knew an older gentlemen whom owned your new thing there and said it was more of a conversation piece for him.

Not much difference as far as the force of the recoil, but the kick comes straight back in your hand instead of the muzzel going up, Reason I got it is to maybe use as a IPSC gun just for somthing different.

I disagree. The compensator on a Glock makes a huge difference. I'm shooting a .357 sig which has a lot more bang then that .40 of yours and it doesn't move when shot. Lots of noise and light, but no movement.

In my mind, and everyone else I know that has a glock, the compensator's are a mandatory option. Add a DPM to that with the dual guide rod and the magnetic case and you have a gun that shoots smoother then butter.

Translation, please

Please translate DPM and dual guide rod for us poor folks.

And they work. Especially on a 17C. Shoots like a .22 pistol, just louder with more light coming out the end :D

NOTE: you dont need to put the magnet on the accessory rail if you dont want to. Although it will greatly improve the system, the three spring dual rod helps with the recoil a far amount by itself.

I've recently swapped out my G19 barrel for a new Storm Lake compensated barrel and I would say that there is a very noticeable effect on muzzle control and follow-through. RHall, my Glock spews brass all over as well, to the point that I've started wearing a billed cap when shooting as it invariably bounces off of my forehead.
