Happened to see the news here on CGN two weeks ago that Remington went bankrupt.
Don't know how I missed it all this time, but I think Remington was on the ropes for a while now.
Next day I purchased my first hunting rifle online, the Remington 700 VLS (Varmint Laminated Stock) in .308 Winchester.
Had been eyeing this particular rifle for a while now, finally decided to give her a try.
Received the rifle yestermorn, must say I really love her! Sorry for the photos, took these with my iPhone.

I'm used to collecting milsurps, this is one of my first modern rifle.
Really love the 26" heavy barrel she came with. Have tried but never enjoyed the featherweight Winchester rifles.
Thought my WWII rifles (Kar98k and Arisaka T38s and T99s) were heavy, but no she is way heavier at more than 5kg just the rifle itself.
Can't imagine how heavy she'll be after I added a scope and/or bipod. One thing to note is I find her to be really front heavy.
The stock is laminated wood, but because of the heavy barrel you actually feel the latter more than the former.
Looking forward taking her out in the woods and the range. Anyone else have a Remington 700 and can share if they're fun to shoot?
Have a great one everyone, I'm a happy man because this rifle is really nice to hold!
