My New Hunting Rifle - The Remington 700 VLS .308

Two things - it is front heavy because you're expected to shoot it off a rest, ie "Varmint" style benchrest shooting; and the swivels are industry common for Uncle Mike's style quick detach slings. I have had several of those mounts over the years. No, you can't really snug up on a target sling properly, but yes you can fit a springy-leg bipod as long as the fore end fits the top of the mount. If you are going to put a carrying sling on, get the attachment with a little turn screw lock. It is folly to trust the little internal spring if the weight of the rifle is pushing the gate open.

Thank you so very much, just wrote down everything you suggested, much obliged!
Apology for the late reply, work really kept me busy.
A bipod was actually the first thing that came to mind when I held this rifle right after unboxing.
Was like "how do I aim with this?!" Thanks for confirming this!

Can someone please recommend me a good scope for this rifle?
Price range I'm hoping around $300-$500, and looking for a scope that is good in all climates, rain and snow?
Just the brand name would suffice too, I know nothing about contemporary scopes!
Thank you in advance.

Anything in the 4-30x variable range will work. I have Leupold VX III 6.5-20x scopes on my VLS rifles. I also have similar rifles with 6-24 scopes, Bausch and Lomb, Nikon, Pentax, Burris, 4.5-30x, Bushnell, and a few Sightrons. All good scopes. You just need to learn how to use them properly. - dan
