Tikka rifles are great. If only they made 'em with a hinged floorplate. The plastic single stack detachable magazine (on a hunting rifle) is a deal breaker for me.

Single stack mags are the smoothest feeding mags going. Side-by-side stack run the risk of jams and misfeeds... (especially if they're a Remmy mag! ;P)

And the Tikka mags are indestructible.

Well Dilli after reading this tread and post, i decided to buy a Tikka CTR T3X 24 inch barrel.

Thanks for the push.

I have a T3 (not x) laminated stainless in .270 and it's been my deer rifle for the last 5 seasons. It's topped with the optiloc bases and rings, and a Zeiss Terra 3-9 x 42 scope. I haven't upgraded any of the plastic bits as it's heavy enough as it is. The only change was a limb saver recoil pad this last year after some shoulder problems. I have two of the plastic mags and they've never failed me in any situation. This rifle is flat out accurate and drops deer in their tracks.

When it comes to the detachable magazines I've grown to like the single stack mags of the t3 and a7, they do seem to feed flawlessly compared to some of the rotary designs I've seen in other modern rifles.

I have a T3 Lite chambered in 243 Win topped with a Nikon Bushmasters 4x-12x BDC. I love it. Only downside is the 3 round mag. A rifle Should always hold at least 5 but i like the rifle enough that i can overlook this.
It shoots sub moa with handloads and factory ammo. My last 5 round group at 100 yards measured .682".

You are going to really enjoy that rifle! I have a friend that was looking for the cabelas limited edition and gave up, I found one and snapped it up. shot sub MOA straight away and with the muzzle brake here in Canada a very fine shooting rifle. BUT in Europe with an over the barrel suppressor it was a joy to shoot! enjoy!

I use a lot of single stack mags. My Sako A7 and my CZ 453 and CZ American rifles and my handguns.
Truthfully they perform flawlessly, which can not be said of steel clips. You drop a polymer clip it still functions well. Drop a steel mag the wrong way on the lips and you have malfunctions. I got rid of all my steel mags over the years.
I prefer the polymer ones. Only problem I found with polymers is don’t put them on your heating vent of your truck. They will warp.😆😆

After all you put into it, it would really suck to find out you got a lemon and it doesn’t shoot!:runaway:

Amen to that, I’ve dressed up a few Tikkas the last few years but not without shooting them first and finding out what they like.

Chances for a lemon are slim but not impossible....

Dilli has lots of cash, he would just turn it into a full blown custom! ;)

Not so much anymore. Having a mortgage sucks donkey balls and now we decided to retire in Alberta so im looking for a 25 acre lot to build my house on. I will have zero cash for guns for a verry long time. And im in the process of trading my Grizzly 700 for a new Yamaha Wolverine X2 R-Spec EPS SE. I will be selling all my milsurps here soon to fund most of this.
