I needed a new rifle to take moose hunting this year, and since I couldn't sell my 7BR barrel, I took it to the smith and had it re chambered to 7-08, and spun on to a short action I had lying around. While it was there he installed my trigger, and set it to 4 lbs.As soon as I got it back in stuck it in a stock I got with a 6MM VS I bought here, and installed a new 3200 bushnell 1.5-4.5 scope.I think it turned out pretty well, and I'll take it out and sight it in this week.

Ok, I"m an idiot.I went to load up some rounds for this rifle and realized I don't have any suitable powder in stock(I thought I still had some IMR4064).Since I have to make a run for powder tomorrow, can anyone suggest a better bullet, than the 160 gr Partitions, that I already have?I'd appreciate any input, and I'll check the board in the morning, before I take off to the store.

looks nice, personally I'd drop the trigger to 2lbs and get that scope as low as it would go, maybe some talley rings to lighten it up, but that's just me :D

should flip the moose over just fine :D

160 gr Nosler Partition will work fine

Varget, RL15, W760, IMR or Hodgdon 4350, RL19 - all good powders to try

Thanks for all the input and the compliments. To answer some of the questions, don't know how it shoots yet, maybe by end of the week, I'll have a range report.
I don't have a scale so I can't tell you what it weighs, but it's probably 1/2 lb or so less than my 6mm VS,but the 6mm doesn't have a scope or rings.
The barrel trimmed out at 23 1/4" from muzzle to recoil lug.
The rings do look kinda high in the pic, but it makes the rifle comfortable to shoot, since I'm slightly less than tiny(6'3"/255lb).
Thanks again for the input, off to pick up some powder.

Well it shot pretty well, considering I haven't had time to try any more than one load.
I loaded up 20 rounds with a CCI 200, lighting 43.5 grains of IMR 4350, to push a 160 Nosler partition.
I fired of 4 rounds to get a hole in the center of the paper at the 25 yd mark, then fired 3 @ 50, 3 @ 100, and 3 @ 140.The 50 yd target had one ragged hole(so I figure I hit it at least twice), the 100 yd target showed a group of about 3/4", and the 140 yd target had 3 holes in a group of about 1 1/4" or so.I hurried the next couple of groups , and they opened up to just about 2".
I figured that was good enough, and went home to load another 20 rounds with the same load.Maybe I'll work up a load for it after the hunt is done, but for now, this is certainly a minute of moose load.
This being my first experience with this caliber, I was pleased with the lack of recoil, and the accuracy potential.I guess this pile of parts worked out pretty well together.
