My new Kel-Tec SU-16

Ordered a Kal-Tec SU16F from Wanstalls online on holiday Monday , was in my hands 3 days later great services and shipping.

Picked up some Norinco, Amercian Eagele, AE Bobtail and Win so I had a variety to try. So cleaned it up and off to the range…

First impressions.

The Mag is very tight, getting the 5th round in was a challenge some times, hope that will clear up with use. I did order some LAR Mags so I will see if those are better

First trip to the range 100 rounds and 2 FTE, 3 FTF. FTF’s were on all types of ammo the FTE were the American Eagle bobtail ammo.

So back home and did some research…. Broke down the bolt, removed the extractor and cleaned.

Back to the range 80 rounds this time. Noticed a few interesting things, the normal AE loaded into the mags far easier than the Norinco. Put 40 AE through NP, 40 Norinco with 2 FTF.
Based upon the fact that the Norinco where harder to get in the mags I think the issue here is actually the mags themselves, would have been nice if they had been pinned to 5.5 rounds so there was just a bit of slack.

Will see what the new mags will do.

All in all like the new toy, quite accurate, light, fun to shoot. Will keep me happy until the T97 gets here

When I got my new SU16 it came with 1 LAR mag, for some reason the Keltec mags were held back in customs (?). Anywho, I have 6 LAR mags now and they have all functioned flawlessly without a single problem. I really like the weight of the gun too, not a fan of that front sight though.

I have only used AE though....curious about that Norinco stuff, mostly because it is cheap.

I shot my new SU-16 after getting it threaded by Dlask. They broke my receiver so they had to buy a whole new gun to replace the upper. I Dlask was nice and sent me the new gun threaded.
I have a Hera Arms Linear Compensator, it makes a difference for noise. The kick seems abit less to.
I'm shooting Norinco ammo and haven't had any issues.
I don't use the stock 5 round keltec mags, they break and aren't worth anything.
Please buy lar mags or 30/5 magpul mags. They work just fine!

The SU-16 mags are garbage. Replace them immediately.
