I just got this rifle this week, It is a Ruger gunsite scout. The major buying factors for me were that it was short and in the future i can do some scout setups that i think are cool.

For now though i have mounted a Leupold vx-2 3-9 zoom, I was surprised to find a 3-9 in 33mm. I need a smaller diameter and was happy to find out that i did'nt have to get a 2-7 instead.

I gotta say the scope is very nice, its my first Leupold and I am not disappointed.

The gun itself is very nice. I like the look and I am very happy with the fit and finish. This is a gun that is going to get beat up over the years so I like that it is stainless and rugged.

Went to the range today and got it sited in. Well it performs better that i expected. My friend is a much better shot than me and since it was cold I had him help set it up.

When dialed in hes groups were about .75'' and mine were about 1.25''. I need to get a loader so i can afford to practice so i can have skills like my bud. But what can you do, when hunting our friends call him slaughter house because the animals die real quick everytime.

anyways ill say that I am very happy with the gun and have zero buyers remorse.

That huge drop down mag would be the deal breaker for me. Makes it impossible to carry with one hand, although some will think it looks cool.

.

10-rounder awesomeness! I love it! I dont think it would be too awkward to carry with a big mag sticking out. M1 Carbines, M-14s and Enfields have large mags, people carry them just fine.

The Canadian Rangers want to replace the Lee Enfield for a new rifle and the requirments is it must be a bolt action chambered for 7.62x51 Nato. Well Canadian Rangers, there is your answer. Ruger Gunsite Scout.

I did get a 5 rounder for hunting. I'm going to get a 3 round one when I can find it.

I like it, it's going to be my hunting rifle.

Love the scope

I read an article that said the rangers were considering it. Its accurate enough. (when I'm not shooting it)

Nice setup, hope the pair of you make some great memories together!

What cartridge is it chambered for?

It's .308 which was a major buying factor. I've had success with federal power shocks in the past and it shoots those well so I'm happy. And their only 22 bucks for a box so that's nice
