So...

I am playing with my new toy and like a kid at Christmas time I've already completely stripped it down and put it back together (with the accessories I'd managed to aquire while waiting)!

First I'd like to thank the following, for without them non of this would be possible:

-TD Bank for giving me the credit to buy such nice things
-Questar for getting the pistol!!
-Almuagrip for those sleek-ass thin aluminum grips
-Wolff for the springs I like to buy for every firearm
-Brownells for the CMC mags
-Canada Post for delivering everything in one piece :D
-And of course... CanadianGunNutz - I love you guys!!

P.S.: Don't use "shok-buff" junk... I bought some and when installed it would not allow me to pull the slide all the way back to release it - in the garbage they go.

;)

Just another example of why I have stopped using them in ANY on my units!
None of these units came with them and I have seen too many issues raised by using them...I have a drawer filled with 'buffs'...1911, Glock, Ruger, etc.
I have seen numerous examples of 'terminal' jams caused by shredded shock buffs..never seen a slide or frame 'disintegrate' from the 'battering' they were designed to tolerate in the first place...
My advise is...ditch the useless little POS!
Use the guns as their Makers intended!;)
 
Gorgeous indeed... my wife is getting quite jealous; I keep telling her that she is my #1 love and this sweet baby is my #2 ;)
 
Awesome another new member of the Kimber Crew!!! Iim assuming its an internal extractor model? I havent shot my Kimber Ultra CDPII yet which is really weird since Im in the states I can shoot it pretty much anywhere anytime, I just haven't yet :D Im waiting for toys too, like alumagrips and wilson combat mags, which I think are better than the CMC's but thats my opinion.

Go shoot the ##### and report back.
 
Internal Extractor model or External Extractor model ... How to tell?

On mine it is very similar to a Glock Extractor - Is this External one?
It's not a solid piece of steel, it has a spring behind it and it pivots - It also has a painted portion to indicate a loaded chamber.

Shooting will be done on the weekend :D
 
You can tell by lookin at the other side... if you have an extractor like a glock as you mentioned you have an external model, which means its an 05 model. All 06s have went back to the more reliable internal extractor. But dont worry my TLE/RLII has an external extractor and its worked flawlessly for 4000 plus rounds. Clean or dirty, factory or reloads, it shoots, and shoots and shoots. I find it interesting you have a painted part? Mine doesnt have this? I read in the manual to brush your finger against the extractor to see if its chambered. My new UCDPII has an internal extractor.

Wow, good to know about mine being a 2005 - the last of the externals it looks like. Already a collectors item - cool!! (jk). Seriously I kinda like the external style as that is what I am used to, although I understand a lot of 1911 purists can't stand them ;) I'll just make sure to replace the spring every 5000 rounds :D I hope getting a replacement extractor won't be hard in the future. What do you think?

Anyway, yes, my extractor is stainless steel with a section of the top of it painted red (like the "Fire" on an HK Rifle), but it's barely visible when there is a round chambered - you'd definitely just feel for it.

Yep, I just dropped it on the scanner and scanned. I realize today that it's very good (the scan) as I tried taking some regular pics of it and the scan looks much better ;)
 
Well I have close to 5000 rounds through my External extractor model and I have no issues, I use wilson combat 47D mags and no problems. I hope it wont be hard to find replacement parts for the EE models, I read that some of the guys that were having problems with their EE models would send them to kimber and kimber would send them back slides with IE, and they would have no problems. So if thats true I'd suggest saying your having problems with your EE and send it in, hoping they gave you a IE slide. Otherwise you may have to buy an IE slide which wont be cheap I'll bet. :D

I think you should keep posting pics. I hope I get to fire this Ultra CDPII tomorrow, I've been bringing it to work with me everyday and in the car with me everywhere I go but I haven't had a chance to legally fire it yet. LOL I'll take more pics when my grips and mags show up.

No plans to add a Surefire X200 or something to a rail which is why I assume you only got the TLE? When I get my first .45 I hope to get a TLE/RL II and throw a X200 on there, sheer beauty!

I love those aluma grips.
