Bought this LE off a nut here and got a stock and scope mount out of the states. No smithing required, did it all with a few simple tools.

Nothing to the metal, just going to re-blue it though.

Phew ;)

Mind you, even the reblueing may not be essential; if you decide to refurb it later, a brown (not rusted) patina may be more representative of her age. And just in case, keep the wood butt and rear handguard, they won'T take much room and you may want to use them at a later date.

Have fun shootin',

Lou

Where did you get you scope mount and stock??? how hard was it to install, how much did it cost. Does it hold zero?? Thanks, Blake

I like it! You know, a lot of guys will drop close to a grand on these brand new synthetic bolt-action Sako's and Savage's. I'd just as soon pick up an inexpensive sporterized milsurp with a good barrell and drop it into a synthetic stock like you've done. I think these guns are built much tougher than new ones anyway.

The stock was 50$ and the mount I believe was 30$. It was extremely easy to install considering everyone I talked too was telling me either gunsmith or doesn't drop right in. No smith and it does drop right in (at least in my case) the only tough part was getting some of the screws out since it's old. Anyone wanna know where I ordered, just send me a pm.

Have been looking for one of those fibreglass stocks. All I see at the shows are stocks for SKS's mousers, and AK's
Now before you get excited, I have a No4 in 7.62x39 that was given to me many years ago with a short barrel, so the only thing I had done was the conversion. Unfortunately the friend who shortened the barrel, also shortened the forend too much, so when it is fired the mid barrel band has nothing to keep it from sliding forward.
