Just got back from ship and found my new Norinco M14 waiting for me, thank you Marstar!!! Stripped it last night and cleaned it up today, going to the range either tomorrow or monday to test it out. I see what some people say about the sharp parts of the stock and i find the hole for the peep sight isnt quite centered but otherwise all the pieces seem to line up and be in working order, guess we'll see how it fires soon. I got a bottle of some kind of clear lubricant in a black bottle in the butt stock anyone know what this i, im assuming its meant to be the grease that goes in the op rod slot and bolt slots, can anyone confirm this for me??Thanks, ill have a pic or 2 up soon.

Dunno what the clear liquid is in your buttstock bottle, but the grease for lubrication should be grease, not a liquid. Read all the stickies above, absorb the info, apply the principles, attend an M14 clinic in your area (if possible), and above all enjoy your membership in a rather unique "club".

BTW, Bravo Zulu!

Its part of the field kit, it a small bottle of gun oil. Also while your cleaning up the rifle, remove the butt plate and the inner storage area. You will find a ton of packing oil inside the butt stock that will need to be cleaned as well. Mine was dripping with oil. Same with the tubes that hold the gun oil and multi tool.

Your gona have so much fun with this rifle :) you should also take some cleaning solution can clean the firing pin, again i found lots of packing oil in it. I just used cleaning solution and a can of air i have in the house for my computers. Works wonders.

The ORA should have an M14/305 shoot day. Only M14's allowed. Movers, agony snaps, etc, at different distances. So far I'm the only one showing up with one.

That would rock!
I'll be at Borden for SR7 Aug 20th - 21st, would be awesome to have another M14 on the line!

Took my M14 out to the range this afternoon to sight it in and get a feel for the it. Didn't have a lot of time for a whole lotta shooting or to get any pics as me and a few friends had an afternoon tee time, but i was able to get it on target and not sure if i imagined it or not but looked like i blew holes in 1/4 inch steel targets with MFS FMJ Ammo, might have to check that out next week when i gets out again for longer range shooting and testing, plus pictures in action. Here's some pics i took at home tonight, she looks like any m14 i guess but shes all mine and so far im impressed.

Where did you get the clip?

I found that washing the case foam in the clothes washing machine on 'delicate', and hanging them up to dry for a couple of days, got rid of the oil stains. I have a front loading clothes washing machine.

Rangebob, thanks for the advice ill definately run it through a cycle and hang it up in my shower, and i found that clip at the range in amongst a pile of 8mm mauser brass. Wasnt anyone else around that day so i picked it up thinking i might be getting a Mauser at some time, but tried sliding a brass in and didnt fit, so i kept it and tried it in my M14 works perfectly. Wish i had kept the brass too, still planning to get a mauser at some point.
The bullets got a lotta punch to em, cant wait to get out again and try the steel targets once more.
I got some plans for some light mods for this rifle, a scope mount and scope, bipod, and cheek piece, maybe get a nice wooden stock unless i can find a way to take the sharp edges off this composite stock.

Anyone know if there are any M14 Clinics going on in the Halifax area???

LOL, I have Aragorn's sword too, as well as Gandalfs!

If Aragorn had issued M14's to his Rangers the Orcs wouldn't have been such a threat, haha. Guess nerds can love Gun's too hey, at least im not the only one. I also have Frodo's Sting, and an old Calvary Sabre. Love military weapons, even those of fictitious armys.

Sharp stock

Sand paper or a file worked on mine

I just got my M14 in the mail and would be damn interested in a clinic here in the Halifax area. Haven't had the rifle out yet, but vacation starts soon. I see range days in my future.

Hey guys, looking to get my hands on a good scope mount for my rifle in the near future anyone have a recommendation as to who carries them, websites would be good, thanks.
Oh, and wouldnt mind a few more stripper clips, preferably 5 round ones like in my pics, all iv seen around was the 10 rounders.
