I bought an unfired M44 from a gentleman on the forum here.
It arrived in the mail today!

This thing looks almost brand new!

There are a few smalls dings in the stock, very small. The dings don't affect the finish - so I can assume it was refinished.
It's all numbers matching except the floor plate (magazine floor).

The Bore is mint. Still has cosmoline on it.
The bolt face is immaculate and looks unused as well.

It's simply mint! I love it!

I bought this rifle to replace my other M44 that I never properly cared for (in the days before I even knew corrosive was, well, corrosive.

My old M44 was the most accurate rifle I owned. The bolt ended up in the garbage (don't ask. It wasn't me. I just neglected the proper cleaning :p procedure. But I will say it was a girl who doesn't like guns who thre it out, by accident).

YES I need to go over this fine piece and remove all that cosmoline still in the nooks.

Now the question: Can I even force myself to shoot this thing?
It's MINT!

Here's the pics I promised - also - included a picture of a pussy for the gentlemen in the forum..

Ha ha 18lbs eh? Not too shabby. I had an 18 yrd old kitty that hit 32 lbs. She was so fat her tummy dragged on the ground :p

As for the M44 - it's an amazing rifle to own. I'll likely buy yet another to add to the collection. I don't know when prices will go up - but I don't want to miss the opportunity like I did with the M1 Garand.

I am also going to buy up the surplus 7.62 x54r - and start reloading too.

Thats a nice looking rifle, is it a Russian? I have a '53 Polish myself and it sure is a shoulder-thumper. You gotta love the mosin-nagants, so simple and powerful, you can't beat 'em. Cheers.

Why not, somebody will.....

here is mine, bought it two months ago here on the site.
the gun WAS brandnew, I had to squish out the cosmoline in the barrel.
The rifle is a lot of fun to shoot. The report is quit stout, because of the short barrel, a real "head turner".

Its a polish m44. The fit and finish on the polish is absolutly awesome! I have a polish M44 1955,unissued and unfired still in the grease:)

So for how much longer should the girl stay in the grease?

Shouldn't you take her out...

... to the range?????

I have Polish M44,very heavily used, beaten up beyond belief.Traces of black paint in the stock
suggest it use to be some sort of a training rifle.I got it basically as a "parts bin special" without some parts and numbers don't match at all.
I put on Mojo rear sight, cleaned internals and what do you know-damn thing still shoots
2-3 inch/100m with cheapest,dirtiest mil ammo.

It's a keeper :D

My kitty(s) love to inspect what ever I bring into the house. This kitty in particular approved the mosin nagant. And yes, he is a ragdoll.

I've also decided to shoot it. I don't intend on selling it anyway - so why not use it for what it was intended?!

Thanks for the kind words folks. I also might try to fix up my old beater.. See how she compares to this new one.

Hi dz, keeps watching the equipment exchange section, the Polish M44's pop up for sale from time to time, they're real fun rifles to take to the range, when you fire people tend to flock around and ask what you're firing and where it came from. Cheers.:D:D

Yes sir. I got mine from the EE.

I remember shooting my old M44 around people and they all used to tell me about the flames shooting out. I never watched anyone else shoot it though, so I never got to see the full effect. I do recall the thunderous clap though. The trigger on this nagant feel ultra smooth too! Amazing.
