Bought a used Marlin 39a today from Epps, came with a Leupold m8 4x on it. I honestly dont know if I have had more fun with a gun.. It is a dream to shoot, and now my 45-70 has a little brother :)

That's a great-looking rifle, congratulations! What's the tear-down/clean-up like on that rifle? (amount of time/effort req.) I like keeping my guns very clean, but don't enjoy the process of actually cleaning them. Might be part of the reason I shoot bolt-actions. :)

I just picked one up at an auction sale this weekend. It was from an old friend who was selling before he moves into an old folks home. He was very glad I got that gun as he wanted some of his guns to go to friends. I have only shot it about 20 rounds but so far I love it.

mine is from the early 50's...haven't heard real good things about the new ones I'm afeared...
mine anyway, the trigger is nice for a rf and accuracy is excellent with the scope on...less excellent with the irons...I don't look as good as I used to...
pretty easy cleanup if you undo the thumbscrew and break it in half.
best lever .22 I've owned.

First lever .22 I have owned.
Have not checked the serial number database to age it, but It is not one of the new ones. It shoots great, and has a pretty good trigger IMO. Easy to clean, and it feels like a real rifle, unlike some rimfires I have dealt with before.
If I had the cash, I would buy another in the mountie version.
