My NEW MDT LSS Arrived! First Impressions Report! Yahooo

I was thinking of putting a shorty Remington 700 16.5" in .223 together, this looks like it would fit the bill nicely.

It looks like a train wreck... IMHO. and at 800$ US plus having to import it sounds like 1000$ to me when its all said and done.

I have been intrigued by the XLR chassis, but I too don't really care for the looks and having the action locked into the stock is not appealing to me at all. This new MDT LSS looks very promising, could be used for a light weight build, kinda half tactical/precision half hunting rifle.

I have been looking at the other thread on these for a bit and now that it has gotten the "Hungry seal of approval ....I MUST HAVE ONE !!
Thanks for the report Hungry ...it looks great .

Without one, chalk river, yer #### will fall off. This is the stick we were discussing using them AICS mags with. Ultra cool organization ability for the sniper matches that we can run up there next season. Yuk yuk yuk

I mounted my Magpul STR stock on the buffer tube then I velcroed on an Eagle Industries cheekpiece only because its in FDE colour and that's the new OD green these days.

So now I got somewhat of a raised cheekpiece. Tomorrow I go to the range and confirm my zero at 100 m

Cheers and enjoy the addiction

Barney.

So, riddle me this. If you're using an adjustable stock, and the receiver extension tube has no buffer/spring in it, could you turn it into a storage tube? Generally speaking there's probably not much you'd be replacing in the field, but it's the thought that counts.

Anyhow, I like it, I love it. I'm about to call MDT and sing them bad karaoke until they ship it to me.

You mean like this:

Just wondering, how difficult was it to remove the new position bolt release?
And whats required now to remove the bolt, just hold down the trigger? If its fairly simple to do then i might just get one of these.

thanks

There wont be a bolt release. The good news is the 10-FCPK still retains the bolt in when the release is removed.

I had to remove it quite some time ago to install my Rifle Basix trigger. And I learned to live without it.

Just got this email :

Nah don't thank me Tac21, you done enough by cranking out a great product that fills a niche nicely. Now you are responding well to the Savage and Tikka addicts. The upper end of the aftermarket stocks upgrades are pretty crowded. At this price point I would consider getting a second LSS stock. :)

Cheers and keep helping the newbs,
Barney

This looks good! I have the Savage TAC21 chassis ordered that I was going to drop my Savage Hog Hunter into, but with the LSS chassis I wouldn't need to remove the iron sights.

Barney,
Have you had yours to the range yet? How does it feel/shoot?
Thanks.

Mine got here a few days ago. I also had to chase the pistol grip thread - no big deal though. The beavertail grip would not fit - I'm hitting it with the dremel tonight.

Loving this thing.

It's wearing a carbine stock until I can get the adapter for the PRS.

Got an AI mag and took it to the range. It feeds and shoots great. I need to get the cheek height up to get the full experience.
