My New Mosin From SFRC

I have a sweet spot too... It amazes me how they may not look the pretiest, but the attention to machining detail is second to none on my Russian firearms. Some people trash them, but they are the ones with worn out equipment. And its easy to get burnt buying mail order, but I am so happy with my mosin from SFRC, open sites this bad boy drives nails!

what i like is the history these rifles have. if they could talk the stories they could tell! i work with weapons for a living so for me plastic "black rifles" are like work so i dont collect them. as for driving nails....my russian ladies do put down the lead.

For sure, It amazes me to think that my Mosin may very well have spent time in the battle field. At the risk of sounding like a snob, I'm a purist when it comes to WW2 and military surplus firearms. I've used my Lee Enfield for years as my primary deer gun (original open sights) I just could never bring myself to drill and tap it for optics...

Well because of the picture you posted with the Mosin resting next to the SKS... I had to do the same (those two look good together). Ordered my sks a Russian friend it should be here tomorrow (according to UPS) which means... I get to shoot it this weekend!! w:h:

well i got mine from sfrc as requested its a tula .year of 1937.its in a early/ prewar stock with a repaired fore end (the toe?) and on small repair by the receiver.the bayo is mm to the rifles serial #. the barrel is floated very nicely in the stock and hanguard.the rifling at the muzzle is fair rest is strong with pitting in the grooves.looks like it had the inside muzzle polished at somepoint.the accesories are in great shape, plus it has a different type of ammo pouch kinda like a cross between a reg one and a svt 40 one ,cool i didnt have one.took it to the range and with bayo off 6 inch group 1 foot high and 7 inches to the right (russian) surplus. bayo on poa is poi 10 shot group 5 touching the rest about 3.5 to 4 inch spread. i had some m39 handloads (46.5 varget 174 3.105 fmjbt) and it did about 8 inches didnt likem at all.i have concluded that these refurbs are all about the same.once in a while somebady flukes out and gets a vg plus bore .also the acuracy is in the stock hand guard clearance relationship(like we didnt already know this)ill post pics after work today

Oh for sure, I ordered my Mosin for nothing more than pure novelty. But just dumb a-ssed lucked out on mine. I'm all in a quandry now as to what to use for deer hunting this year.. Will it be the Mosin?
Will it be the SKS?
Will it be the Axis 25-06?
Will it be the Lee Enfield?

I may have to put a poll up and let my fellow CGN'ers decide, because I'm all in a dither over what to use. LoL. And the summer isn't even over and I'll be buying more firearms this summer, I know it! That will make it all the more harder to choose! LoL.
