stokesy sounds like we got ours the same time though from different vendors. this is not the vendors fault and they provided me with excellent customer service so i am not bringing them into it. sorry to hear about the ugly. and i hate to be a complainer i really do. i want to be the guy who has nothing but good to say.

Mine has been hit with the ugly stick all over, my tooling marks are pretty much identical to yours on the upper. I also have them on the lower and rail. The more I look at it, the more I get irritated by the cosmetics, was expecting much better, to sum it up, functional yes, pretty no!!

Seriously, is this what one should expect if they buy an NEA? Admittedly, I am surprised and a little put off. Dave/NEA do you have anything to say about this?

I agree, I see it as senseless and way to much headache afterwards..If you are on a tight budget it makes total sense, but for most people i know that bought a Norc or NEA they could have spent more or saved a little and got something more reliable.

Exactly! And really Who out of the group who has paid for their gun licenses and range membership really can't shell out an extra 200 dollars !? I mean Christ two good range days and that's ur 200 bucks in 556....

Even though he modified his components, which voids our warranty we are providing him with new replacement components and keeping his warranty valid. We just need the old parts back so they're out of the system.

Parts have been shipped express post should be there before friday.

once again i would like to thank Dave for keeping my warranty valid.

it's really true what they say patience is a virtue....

Absolutely no fault of the vendor, ive nothing but good things to say about the shooting edge.

I was originally looking at the Norc but was put off by the tooling marks and general finish. A good quality finish is important to me and in this day should be expected.

I was aware of the issues NEA had in the past but believed they were resolving these and moving forward (which I think they are), what I wasn't aware of from my research was the poor quality finish issues, I appreciate that a lot of people aren't bothered by this but I am, seriously how difficult should it be to removing machining marks and ensure the entire rifle is painted!!

The great thing with NEA is they appear to have an excellent warranty, and do seem to respond quickly to concerns.

It's not like they've had much choice on response times or having to deal with all the problems given the multitude of public complaints/slams on open forums such as here..

I've seen this before where a QC guy spent most of his day responding to & putting out fires on 1911dotcom in regards to various issues about a product and not doing his own job..

Reality is.. Issues and/or concerns are always best addressed in either an email or phone call type of communicae, where it can be resolved quickly and without further issues or opinions clouding the subject when it's on an open venue such as here..

Well, in fairness - I think NEA "jumped the shark" with respect to some of the initial batches of rifles. So a lot of that public criticism was in fact warranted. But you live, you learn...

The tooling/machine marks are kind of a turn-off for me, as well.

How many of the above remarks are made by shills from NEA? :HFU:

Hmmm......

That's what turned me away.......bigtime.

Besides, I thought NEA was leaving the Canadian market and going big over in South Africa or wherever they claim to be international.

Well, I for one would have never of known about the machining marks if not for dweenz making this thread and posting the pictures he did. Not to mention, the subsequent conformations from others that this is typical of NEAs receivers.

Sans response from Dave/NEA it appears to be what it is, and if you buy an NEA you should expect to get a rifle with tooling/machine marks/a poor finish. I think this is something everyone needs to know before making their purchase decision.

For that I thank dweenz and encourage others to report similar issues…

As I've already said, I have no functional issues, purely cosmetic.

You would think an International arms dealer with military contracts and thousands if not tens of thousands of AR15's in other governments hands would know how to make a good product in it's own country. The above claim isn't mine it's NEA's

Shame.

That is not typical of the receivers we're putting out of our shop.

But the drama has been great here. ;)

Well I guess you can call me sceptical… either because it took three posts before you addressed my question, but had already addressed every other issue… or because no one seems to be commenting or showing pictures about how perfect your finishes are.

Perhaps I need to post pictures of properly finished receivers so you can post about how they use a superior process and that yours is adequate? Or do I need to wait for the shill to show up and say his NEA is finished perfectly?

It may surprise you to learn that I try and not spend every moment of my day on CGN reading every post that goes on here. I spend most of my time interacting with people with comments or questions through email.

If you look through the hundreds of pictures of our rifles now in the internet you will get a much better idea of what our rifles look like. As well if everyone that bought one took the time to post pictures and comments about how happy they are, you'd likely focus on that.

Of course not. People don't spend all day talking and ranting about how happy they are. They want to spend it ripping on someone. That's much more fun. ;)

So if I don't answer each and everyone personally.. it's likely because they didn't contact me personally. Don't take offense.

See.. even if someone posted that they were happy and their gun was perfect you wouldn't believe it anyways.
