So, I've been looking for one of these in 7.62X39 for a reasonable price for some time, and FINALLY got it :)

My plan is to turn it into a Galil-ish clone; I think I'm going to keep the original receiver cover, as it's set up for a rail and is VERY solid, and I'm happy with the AK-style bolt handle, so I probably won't be changing that, at least not right away. I'll be replacing the trigger group with a standard AK trigger group, and moving it forward. I'm going to see if Dlask can fab a filler block to square off the rear of the receiver, so I can mount a Galil folder, and thread the barrel for a Galil or AK muzzle device.

I'm going to be sourcing parts soon, so if anyone has suggestions on where to find them, I'm looking for:
  • Galil folding stock
  • Galil forward handguard, and mounting pieces
  • Galil front sight assembly
  • Galil pistol grip and bolt/mounting hardware
  • Galil brake/muzzle device

If anyone has a dewat Galil I can use as a parts donor, let me know. I'll of course be putting a parts WTB ad in the EE, as well :)

I don't want to be a #### but the hunter was never made in 7.62x39.

If you bought that gun as a convert have you confirmed the diameter of the bore?

The Galil grip won't work. It's much easier use an AK grip and nut/bolt. The trigger group and grip nut and bolt can be ordered from Brownells, try eBay or Zahal for the AK grip.

Hey, no worries about being a #### lol

I didn't buy the gun on here; it was a local purchase, and was advertised as 7.62X39, not as a conversion. I'll have to look into it. It may or may not be the gun that was fos sale on here; I didn't see that EE ad. Fenceline, do you recall who had that one for sale on here? I paid considerably less than $2900...
