Ugly ass bolt and carrier before I removed the so called "bluing"

Rifle with the stripped bolt and carrier which I think looks so much better :) No pitting or discoloring

What do you guys think of my new acquisition? Not the most beautiful example out there but I still love her :) Brought her out to the range yesterday for the first time(got her on Friday BTW)and wow gotta love that accuracy! Anyways sorry if I bored anyone just felt like sharing my joy with the rest of the CGN community :D

looks great, all you need to do is add an 858 and your GTG

Well the SKS is Chinese so I want a Russian one before I get the 858 which is up to four times the price of the SKS.A TT 33 would also be nice to add to the collection if only I had my RPAL :( So maybe I'll have to get my RPAL or at least have my brother pick me one up when he gets his :)

You've done good my son.:D Its good to see a fellow Red lover out there. Which one out of the 3 is your favorite, if you don't mind.

Yeah I'm absolutely crazy about these Red rifles! SVT 40 is my favorite for sure right now but thats because I just got it. I love the Mosin because I'm really a bolt-action kind of guy and the SKS has such little recoil that you can really shoot it all day long and not feel a thing :) I really do love all my Red family equally just prefer one over another once in a while :D

The stripping of the bolt and carrier were done using the vinegar soak method snagged from a previous post here. Works real well and truly does improve the overall look of the rifle.

Yes, you need to get a TT33 to add to your combloc toys. I picked mine up from Weimajack :)(he's on the EE as a dealer) and he's located not far from Montreal. Oh, and yes you should also add an 858 ;)(got that from Weimajack also).

Welcome to the Red rifle family.:D

Does Weimajack have a store that I could swing by or does he just do mail order? If i can remember correctly I read in a post someone said he was near Valleyfield is this true?

Is that a gold bolt SVT? Leave the carrier and bolt the way it is - if she's that ugly PLUMB colour, go for it. Gold or black look the best on an SVT

It's not gold or purple, it's brown. It has a serial # crudely put on so I'm assuming it's a refurb carrier/bolt... I don't know too much about these, other than mine shoots really nice.

Anyone know of any extra magazines available anywhere? Sucks only having one mag.

Load up on stipper clips. They give you that mag change timing, are kind of a fun change, and more authentic to how the original operator would of loaded the rifle.

It's all the more sweet if you score some matching ammo pouches to rig a bandolier.

I do enjoy stipper loading my Mosin.

Stripper clips were on the list for my next order from Trade Ex but sadly they're out of stock. Just curious if these repro mags are capable of loading ten rounds like an original if you remove the pin. Not that I'm planning on doing something illegal just curious is all.

Even mentioning "removing the pin" isn't wise. I'm not going to pay $80 for another mag... whether it's supposed to be a good deal or not.
