My new reloading bench video

Chris your setup is great , I'd like to have a few of your toys esp that tumbler.. "A study in organization"

Can't wait for your next vids.. Cheers

Nice bench. I was looking for some ideas especially with regards to tops. I went with a portable for the press as my workbench isn't very big and it's the only way I can keep it fairly nice and clean. Also I can take the press anywhere pretty quickly.

I like the top you did. Thinking eventually of having the top redone on mine so it's less plywood.

Very nice setup, Chris.
I have the Chargemaster combo, and a Co-Ax with "Bonanza" on it, not Forster.
[tells you how long I have been enjoying it]

My only [mild] criticism would be that tumbler on the bench itself.
But as long as it was not running while I was working at the bench,
it would probably be OK.

Great idea to have a timer dedicated to your tumbler.

Wait until you are loading for 20 or more chamberings, lol. :)

Regards, Dave.

You are 100% correct. No way I could have that tumbler going on the bench while using the chargemaster. I have room under the bench for it and that's where it will go if I need to dispense powder while its going.
20 calibers. Yikes. I just got into firearms a year ago. Only have one centerfire. It's gonna take time to get more guns. Next one is a 243 :)

You may find that still interferes with your chargemaster. In the picture of my setup you can see the black mats. Those are horse stall mats. About 3/4" thick rubber made from recycled tires. They serve two purposes. One when using the tumbler they neutralize the vibration. So when on the floor to the side it doesn't affect my digital dispenser system. The second is it's a lot easier on your feet if you're standing, or moving around a lot in that area reloading. You'd be surprised what a difference it makes.

Also with my system, no cell phones near it. An incoming text or call does interfer with mine. I use a Pac Nor system.

Was hoping to see some suggestions on the top you did? That's why I posted. Any thoughts on tops? Hows your choice working out? Would you chose something different? Any recommendations? Thanks.

First of all, as I mentioned in the video the woodworking bench underneath weighs over 400 lbs. The top of the bench is a 3 1/2" thick slab of hardwood so needless to say this is one solid base. As for top material, not much will beat Formica. It's highly abrasion resistant and non porous. If you can get a deal like I did, an ugly color on sale it's the only way to go. Mine is glued down to the plywood. This is a tricky job and needs to be done right.

I'll have to keep an eye out for formica. I have a buddy who most likely knows how to do that stuff properly.

Just a heads up though. The weight of the bench doesn't matter with the tumbler. It's the vibration from the tumbler that's the issue. Wood still transmits vibration. Rubber absorbs it fairly well. That's why I keep mine on a concrete floor but have the 3/4" horse mat on top of the concrete. This way I can run the tumbler without any vibration causing issues with the dispenser.

That's a nice looking tumbler setup. Pretty cool. Thanks for sharing the video.

Sorry, I didnt address that part of your post.... My plan is to add vibration mounts to the tumbler and put on floor if I ever need to clean brass and work on bench at same time.... Simple. cheers
