My "New" Retro AR....Lots of pics

Now I miss my old SP1.

I think these really complete the look.

This is exactly what I'm looking for. Even placed a WTB on the EE.

I contacted a company in the States but haven't heard back from them:(

Anyone have a spare?

So I finally had a chance to shoot my SP1. Basically, just a functions test to ensure everythings works. I managed to shoot only 10 rounds of frangible .223 (indoor range requirement)...damn expensive ammo.
All I can say is this rifle shoots awesome and brought me back to those Nam movies I watched as a child. At ~6lbs it was easy handling and well balanced. It also had a very distinct report...different than other AR's I've heard.

One thing I noticed is the rear A1 flip sight had two reticles that were the same size with one marked with an "L". I'm assuming this is for "L"ong range? By comparison the BUIS on my other AR had one small and one large (flip) recticle.

Anyway, looking forward to putting more rounds downrange...this thing oozes nostalgia.

Nice and light is the way to go. C-8's weighing more than the C-7A2 20" bbl rifle is silly.
I read about the original rifles from '64 to '68 being problematic due to soft brassed cases, improper propellant, poorly anodized and rust proofed, non-chromed chambers and barrels along with pins falling out. The AK series had teams of engineers working on it and doing lots of testing and tweaking before it hit the production lines. After that it had over over a decade of improvements made on it by the time the Americans went toe to toe with an enemy armed with the AK. Stands to reason there were so many problems with the AR-15. Today, though it is a different animal altogether. The rifle can finally be called "mature" and reliable.
The original style for me is all that is needed. Hanging sh1t off it just makes it heavy and cumbersome.
Congrats on the purchase.

I have to agree. I'm not really into ARs but I think a SP1 would be a hoot to own as a civilian version of a Vietnam era milsurp and not as a black rifle.

Sweet ar. I have always wanted an SP-1. I have a set of NIB triangle hand guards off a 70's m16. So far that is all I've managed to collect.
Until then my bone stock Colt Sporter will have to do.
