It came in the mail this week. And I must say, it's pretty rough.
I soaked it in a varsol cleaning tank for a bit, then cleaned it all up and oiled it and put it back together.
Then I cycled the action about 20 times and it was still pretty rough, and actually jammed to the rear once so bad that I had to force it forward again with a wooden hammer! LOL

Trigger has a lot of creep, and you feel like you hit the sear 2 or 3 times before it actually goes "click"... Loading a magazine made my fingers bleed.

She's rough, and not much of a gun as it sits right now.

That being said...

I LOVE IT LOL Can't WAIT to get her apart on the bench, clean 'er up and get the dremel to it. polish up some of those nasty rough parts and get her ready for the range. The frame is excellent and the parts are all excellent as far as being robust. They just need some TLC. I got exactly what I was expecting, a 1911 in 9mm for cheap and a nice little winter project...

Thanks Marstar!

Edit, the weight difference between this gun and my M&P is quite substantial, I bet that will suck up some recoil on the range.

If anyone has any tips for this chunk of metal, please send 'em my way!

Now guys, I knew EXACTLY what I was getting. I figured she'd take some time to make it into what I want. While some might find it weird that I am looking forward to this project, I for one am thrilled at being able to do some "smithing"... :D

The idea was simple, buy a cheap azz pistol, see what it is when you get it, and make it into something better, for fun...

Not just add new grips and some bolt on accessory stuff, but learn what makes this puppy run (it's my first 1911 model)..

So yes, I got exactly what I paid for, and yes, I'm happy about having a new addition that I am going to put work into before taking it to the range. So, no bubble being burst here at all.

It certainly ain't as nice as my other handguns, but it looks like it's gonna be a lot of fun.

ME, ME.....I WIN. I WIN.

And this is your prize

UPDATE:

Ripped it all apart last night and got busy with some 400 grit and a polishing wheel. Thanks to a 1911 manual someone on this board provided me, I was able to clean up some of the critical trigger areas and actually reasemble it so it works!! :D

Some of the trigger group was pretty rough, so I cleaned it up just a bit, then re-blued and bare metal I created. The action and trigger are now about 100% better than before. I know there's a couple of places I can still improve on so I'm going to study the manual some more and do a more detailed polish of those areas.

All in all, she's gonna turn out just beauty, despite the nay sayers comments

Pictures at 11, or.... 1911.......... :D

You're already way ahead of some folks, you've got it apart, improved it and put it back together again. That's one of the beauties of these Norcs, you can take chances with them that you just wouldn't dream of taking with an $1100 Kimber. Good for you :D

And exactly why I bought it! Figured, I'd learn all about the design on a "beginner model", and screw it, if I make it really decent, I'll use it for competitions just to P.O. the "Colt" crowd.. LOL
It's sorta like polishing a turd, but some of the info I've read about the steel used in the frames and parts say it's better than what Colt uses.

I'm really into ripping stuff apart and making it work better, so, with all the snow and cold weather, what better way to get ready for spring...

Oh yeah, I guess I should be reloading the 3000 rounds of .223 I have, but that's another story... LOL
