dang!
i just paid 300 for a 45 tula

What i meant was that cleaning from muzzle tool doesn't enter chamber leaving an inch or so not cleaned. Seems like the rod is two or three inches short i figured that if bolt is open cleaning from muzzle end i would see the brush in the breech.

No need to wait for Monday just got a call from lebarons they got a few in today

I rushed over and out of the five they had only two left to pick from

grabbed a laminate stock one paid for it done deal

couldn't get it registered due to low serial number so it will be done on Monday

can't wait

more are expected at the store on Monday as well in Mississauga

maybe I get one more for the hell of it

So I wonder,,,,,,,,,,,are the guys buying these SKS rifles at LeBarons, all members here at this fine forum ???

If not, how did they hear about the sale of these rifles, I am sure the much older gentleman I saw at the store today, don't really surf the net, belong to this forum, or even go to the LeBaron web site......

I could be totally wrong.....

But I am curious

I know if I had not come across this thread, I would probably not know about this at all, and would not have one....

Sorry to take away from the OP, not meaning to HiJack the thread, just wondering.....

Cheers

Maybe like me they just happened to be in lebarons. Thursday I went in to get a banana clip for my 10/22 and lucked in wasn't till I got home fri that I saw the other threads here lol

They sold out in ottawa in no time. Once you open a box at the counter and it's an SKS, people flock over and ask if their for sale. I got my laminate tho. It looks great! numbers match, mag is pinned nicely, functions perfect.
Took mine to the range this morning and gave her a good testing with 40 rounds of non corrosive. Im very impressed, i never thought that highly of SKS's until now. Hardly any recoil on the thing.

I believe laminated was 230 but don't quote me.I wasn't interested in them as I plan on abusing this one (death by overshooting) maybe next one will be laminated.

I was driving around with my buddy this morning and we popped into LeBaron to pick up some 30-30 ammo for an old Marlin that I just bought from him.
We walked into the gun room and I noticed a laminate SKS on the wall. I nudged my buddy and said "hey, looky here". I asked the guy how much and he said "$216 for laminate and $180 for birch".
Well, that was the beginning and end for us.
We both took birch stock models, blued, silver bolt refurbs, dated 1951. ( we looked at a few, and they were ALL 1951 in birch and 1954 in laminate)
$203 tax in.
Unfortunately my transfer was send to the CFO for approval (####!) so I'll have to wait until Monday to pick it up hopefully.
We also picked up a crate of 1200 rounds of Czech surplus ammo for $246 tax in.

Of course, we had no intention of buying SKS rifles today, but for that price, who could resist?

As I understand it, they changed to chromed barrels sometime in 1951. So, is there any way to tell if mine is chromed or not?
