Finally got my scope mounted on the rifle :) Thanks to Wolverine for the speedy shipment of the B-Square rings! Mounted is a Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn 6-18x50 with B-Square Sport Utility "high" rings. The rings provide sufficient clearance.

This is my first scoped rifle though, and I'm curious about one thing. The top half of the rings do not meet face-to-face with the scope mounted. Whichever side was fastened first has the mating surface touching for obvious reasons, but there is a gap on the other side. I tightened the bolts in a crisscross pattern. I figure it will work fine like this considering there isn't much recoil, but should the ring faces be touching or is there supposed to be a gap?

While some rings are specifically made with one side contacting and a gap on the other, most other rings are like what you have. Like m39a2 said, just make your gaps equal (or equal enough ;) ) and you'll be good.

Cool, thanks! :) That's easy enough to do.

I really like how this rifle feels. The stock is very comfortable. Haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet, but it should shoot better than I can!

Savage BV MkII, accutrigger, laminate thumbhole stock, now with 50mm scope - mmm... yeah baby...

Very nice setup...I see in Savage's site that this model is now finally available in a lefty version...very very tempting.

Very nice , I have one and have found that I can shoot tighter groups with the 20 grain Hornady HMR rounds than I can with the 17 grain rounds. Enjoy your new toy.

I have that exact same gun piece for piece and I love it. At an outdoor range with pretty much no wind at all I have 5 shots under an inch easy at 150 yards on average. It is a pleasure to shoot and I have my trigger set as light as it gets. Enjoy it and take care. I almost slept with mine when I got her to the range, spent 3 boxes sighting her in and it has been a gopher killin machine ever since. .......:D

What brand of ammo does yours like? I'm hoping to take mine to the range on Wednesday, if the weather is good.

If his rifle is the Mk II, it's a .22 LR, not a .17 HMR.

Drewz: 1" grouping at 150 yards for a .22 LR would be incredible! That's more like what my .17 HMR shoots.

Yeah...the .17 HMR is a very nice cartridge as long as the wind is not blowing too hard. I can easily pick off empty shotgun hulls at 200 yards with my 93R17. :)
