Hey there,

I recently ordered and received a brand new P226 and I tought it would be nice to share.

First, the order process: This is my first firearm, my first restricted also (and of course not my last). I was quite fast; took about 7 openable days from EMT payment to my door. Mark and Sal from Questar were very nice and helpful, thank you Questar :)

Here is what I got:

Basically, it's a P226 with black nitron finish, beavertail frame, Short trigger, SRT trigger system and SigLITE night sights. It's just like an Elite model with a short trigger or an Elite Dark without Alumnium grips.

I read a lot at Sigforum before purchasing, and prefered this model for it's earlier manufacture date to newer Elite or Elite dark. It paid off because it came with a nice Braided spring and Stainless Steel guide rod; newer models come with plastic guide rod and normal spring. Of course it might not seem like much (or might not make a difference at all), but a lot think it does make a difference; and at that price point, I expect superior quality parts and finish. There have been a lot of QC issues posted at SigForum, of course some people seem to make it bigger than it actually is, but I've seen some people post some pretty nasty pictures of newer Sigs, QC doesn't seems to be at it's best sometime :( I was pretty relieved when I got mine :D

Here is the box content, pretty standard stuff: Stickers, manuals, TW25 sample, 2 mags (Yes 2 :)) and an oily pistol ;)

I'm very happy with what I see. It's a very tight pistol, no loose parts, the action looks very nice. The trigger is surprisingly smooth (vs other newer P226 models I've handled in local shops). The trigger pull is very nice and crisp in both DA and SA, much better than what I've seen lately and it will only improve with time and dry firing (with some snap caps of course).

My trigger finger is itchy, but so far, no sign of my reg. certificate :( So I can't go to the range with it yet. It'll be a nice safe queen.... NOT! :D

I'll post a range report as soon as it can travel ;)

Here is a bit of pistol pr0n for those who like it, enjoy.

Thanks for looking!

I just picked up a Sig P226 recently as well. Was wondering what I should get as my first pistol. Well, once I laid my hands on a buddies Sig, it was all over...I HAD to have one!

Great choice...you will be very happy!

Thanks for the heads up on the plastic parts. What is that all about?

To hell and back reliable? Not if it melts while your there.

There have been a lot of topics at SigForum about Sig quality going down as a lot of newer pistol seem to come out with a rather questionnable quality control issues. Of course they probably make it bigger than it actually is.

A lot of people complains that they skimped on some internal parts; they now use some plastic guide rod and non-braided recoil spring. A lot also complain about the usage of rather unfinished MIM parts in their Sig; those MIM parts often produce a very gritty trigger.

As of the spring and plastic guide rod, I don't know if it really does affect reliability, but those parts are cheaper than what they used to be. I think some people just can't stand plastic part in their so called "all metal" pistol :D

Sweet sig man, very nice job on the pics too, loved oogling at them!

It's been a while since you posted, have you had a chance to put some rounds through her? How's she shoot ?

I'm in love with the p226 as well, exactly which model did you buy on questar? is that model still available on their site?

It's a custom E26BR-9-BSS-SRT model, it was listed under "Limited Edition" @ questar but they don't have anymore of those. It came with a bevertail frame, Siglite night sights, Short trigger and SRT trigger. For a few more bucks they now have an Elite Dark model (which is basically the same except it has Adjustable sights and Aluminium grips).

It shoots very well, I love the SRT! The trigger is very smooth and crisp. I produce good groups at 7 yards. I'm currently practicing at 15 and 20 yards, but I'm not very good so far.. but I hit the target :)

You have excellent taste in guns. Congrats. One day I will eventually own one of those.
