My new Sig Sauer P226

Rivalen,

I have a P229 (Equinox) myself. Since Equinox comes with the wooded grip, it was a bit bulky for my hand. I replaced it with a hogue grip (I wish I could find the original grip), and I found that I had to get the short trigger for my P229 from Questar.

I think after a few rounds at the range you'll find you'd be a lot happier with the short trigger.

Cheers,
T.

I love to have the navy model, but man they have to get rid of that swat poser stupid tact rail:( Or offer a non rail version to us non swat posers:p

There have been a lot of topics at SigForum about Sig quality going down as a lot of newer pistol seem to come out with a rather questionnable quality control issues. Of course they probably make it bigger than it actually is.

A lot of people complains that they skimped on some internal parts; they now use some plastic guide rod and non-braided recoil spring. A lot also complain about the usage of rather unfinished MIM parts in their Sig; those MIM parts often produce a very gritty trigger.

As of the spring and plastic guide rod, I don't know if it really does affect reliability, but those parts are cheaper than what they used to be. I think some people just can't stand plastic part in their so called "all metal" pistol :D

The plastic guide rod is cheaper and they last longer then the sheet metal ones. I hate MIMs parts too but have not seen them break on a SIG yet :)

It's a custom E26BR-9-BSS-SRT model, it was listed under "Limited Edition" @ questar but they don't have anymore of those. It came with a bevertail frame, Siglite night sights, Short trigger and SRT trigger. For a few more bucks they now have an Elite Dark model (which is basically the same except it has Adjustable sights and Aluminium grips).

It shoots very well, I love the SRT! The trigger is very smooth and crisp. I produce good groups at 7 yards. I'm currently practicing at 15 and 20 yards, but I'm not very good so far.. but I hit the target :)

Thanks for responding, glad to hear it shoots good! I have only shot a sig once. I'm really new to shooting, I'm taking the CFSC next week to get my PAL, and I just signed up for the R-PAL course, which I will hopfully be able to take in december. I live in kitchener and i'm tkaing the course at shooters choice, the r-pal course is nice cause it a combo course where you you take the test for the rpal and also the club membership course all in one.

I'm luck enough to have a bit of extra money to throw at this expensive hobby, but man shooting is fun!

I LOVE the look of the sig, it's so badass! To be honest though i'm not that big of a fan on the beaver tail though, I think it degrades the look of the gun. Do you (or anyone reading) find that it makes that much difference controlling recoil when shooting?

I just took my restricted and non-restricted exam and aced 'em both. so i am waiting for my PAL in the mail. Trying to decide what my first gun should be. I have only ever used a Tokarev TT33 (pretty cool) but after some online research I have narrowed my choices down to the Sig P226, Beretta 92FS or 90two, or a Glock 20! looking for some input

SIG 226 is a no brainer, I am a "factory" qualified Beretta and SIG amourer and to be honest I will never buy a Beretta due to parts failure and the slide mounted safety.
Glocks are nice to but lack alittle on the accuracy department also a Glock 20 in 10mm???? have fun feeding that money pig lol.

SIG P226- I have serviced hundreds of SIG 226s and my spare parts drawer is getting pretty dusty lol. I replace the recoil spring every 5000rds to prevent frame wear. But other then that, I have replace two defective take down levers and afew damaged grip screws "users fault not the guns"

Glock- I cant say much about them in the long run, since I dont fix them.

Beretta 92 FS- well I have seen one locking block fail, 15 broken decocking pawls, 4 Lanyard loops wearing out "plastic", 1 out of spec sear. This was out of only about 40 guns. They are good on the accuracy side but not so good in harsh cond. "dont worry since your not crawling in the mud lol"

Just my 2 cents am sure someone here will tell me am wrong :p

Just curious, why do some here wait for reg cert to come in the mail before taking out to range. That temporary cert has all the info on it already. I mean, it's good to use to pick up from store, so how would it be different using that from home to range. Only difference to me is that the the temp cert has my name on it with all other info as per the 'official' reg cert without my name on it.

Correct me if I am wrong, the # should be good enuf, just like getting STATT to take to gun smith without needing fax copy or hard copy.

Blasphemy!!!
I love the rosewood grips on my 226 Elite and wouldn't trade (let alone take them off the pistol) for the world.

Sorry for the n00b question but what does "MIM" mean?
