After a very long and frustrating conversion, I thought I'd share my 'revised' Norinco SKS.

Not my actual one, but here's a pic of it stock;

And after my torturous evening adding a Tapco Pistol Grip Stock, 5/20 round mag, scope and muzzle break....

....And to think I wanted to sell it to free up some room in the safe ;) I love it now. But damn, what a pain in the ass that was.

Shoots amazing actually with the stock sights, I've yet to shoot it with the scope. We'll see tonight ;) As far as cycling through the ammo - have not had one problem.

I was grouping really tight, but only at 50 or so yards. Anyone have any experiance further than that?

Same here, very tight grouping at 50yds.
I can't see squat at 100yds. (old eyes)
Have a Choate scope mount on order.

Mine is in an ATI stock, and I shoot off hand at targets from 100 to 200 yards.
I tried 300 a few weeks ago at a fun shoot, but I found it hard to see the gong, and it was up a hill, which affected my guesstimating trajectory abit. :D

Lot's of fun anyway. :)

Does that 20/5 round mag hold the bold back after the last shot? I've been thinking of getting one like that, may I ask where you nabbed it from?

It does hold the bolt back, yes. Suprisingly it was not a 'true fit' and I had to really play around with it and do some bending to even get the bolt to close over it without rubbing.

I got the mag from my Brother in Law, he's had it for a few years. He picked it up from a small gun shop in Cranbrook BC. I'll get the name and let you know asap.

nice looks good, i was thinking of going the same route with my d, but now that i will have an ar build going it dosent seem right to do to the old girl. atleast until i find a stock for it.

I have one of th SKS 18.5" barreled jobbies with a ATI folder and It shoots awesome (3" at 50yds w/Hungarian surp) but with the stock sights I have trouble even seeing where the front blade is at 100yds, best I've done is 10" at that range even with SP commercial.
The 1.5" off the end makes it look sooo much more viscious.

The Tapcos look great, but what a pain in the @ss to get them on and configured. It took me more that an hour to get the hand-guard to fit right. Looks good now, though.

You got yourself the classic tacticool, Gun Show, ninja Viet Cong sniper. I've poured some money into an SKS only to find out it's best stock.

Minute of typing paper at 300 Yards.
