My new Swede from Tradex (Range Report)

If you are looking for a Swede sling, Mountain State Supply LLC makes a really nice reproduction, they go for about $15 plus $6 shipping to Canada.

Beautiful rifle! I also have one and I really love it. They are so nice to shoot, with not too much recoil.
You can find some parts for it on e.bay.

I looked on ebay for a stock disc. I found one decent repro. But it doesn't say anything about a screw...

While I wait for a reply from the seller, anyone know where to get a proper stock disc screw? Or better yet an original disc with screw?

For $50 you can get a stock with a disc from tradex.....maybe call them and see if they have some?

Got some goodies in the mail today.

My repro sling came. It's nice. I could smell the leather through the sealed express post envelope!
For $19.95 shipped it's amazing. Good looking leather. Sturdy clip and buckle.

So who can show me how it's supposed to go? :D
How were these typically treated? Mink oil?

I dunno how tough the finish will turn out to be...

There are a couple character marks like this but they wouldn't bother me even if it cost a lot more money.

This also came today...thanks Wayne!

So what does everyone think...should I polish it up or leave it with the patina on it?

I cleaned it first, which helped. But it was blotchy so I VERY carefully buffed it a little bit and then put it on. As for orientation, this way was the only way it would fit down in the relieved area.

I'm really happy with it. Authentic and completes the rifle in my mind.

The sling is pretty simple to put on, I left the black quick release buckle off of mine because it can mar the rear sling swivel. (LOVE that leather smell!)

Range Report

Fired a three shot group at 80 yards. 3.5 inch group.

First two shots were within 1" of each other but the third shot was a little low. Don't know if it was me or the barrel heating up. My buddy produced a similar group with it but he thought he flinched on the last shot.

I'll fire it again soon and see if I can tighten that up.

Shoot FOUR shot groups. That way, if you pull one, you will know about it. Also, with a 20 round box, this gives you five groups.

You might put just a LIGHT smear of grease on the front bearing point of the stock. Sometimes the bands tighten up on the barrel a bit, and the grease helps the barrel "slide" a bit when it warms up.

Take time in between shots to let the barrel cool down a bit. At least two minutes, with the bolt open in between.

What brand and weight of ammunition are you using?

I shot Privi Partisan 139 gr. SPBT.

The thing I forgot to mention was that the whole group was about 6 inches high of my POA but that made sense to me since it was such a short shot. It was dead on center.

I forgot to grease the stock when I put it back together. I will at some point soon and try it again. I'll also shoot slower. I shot 3 shots in about a minute. My bad.
