my new tan rfb options?

I changed my optics again on my RFB... Got an awesome deal on a Bushnell Elite 6500 1.25-8 x 32... I like the look of this 6500 series scope better on my rifle. Took the 4200 3-9x40 & put it on my wife's 243... The 3200 is now in the EE...

Cheers

I'm really thinking on pulling the triguer on a AR-332™ Prism Sight from burris, the reviews online seem really positive. Anybody have a opinion on that sight? about a 3x dot on a rfb for hunting?

the burris AR 332 prism sight is suposedly a nice red dot. i wouldnt mind trying it out on my M4. i wouldnt really recomend it it though for the RFB because the AR 332 prism sight has bullet drop compensator set for .223 rifles.

Nice set up! I might go that way, how confortable is it?l eyes relefe wise? Any idea on a eaqualy good scope same magnification and close price point but more compact? I know im demanding :p

It's very comfortable. AR mounts like the Burris work well with the RFB (Also with the Tavor when the Factory rail option is chosen). Good cheek weld etc. This is the quick release model which I recommend. The only thing is, you will need to push your scope forward as I did in the mount, and then the quick release handles on the left side should be flipped back. Now you can use the mount without your hand hitting the quick release handles while using the charging handle. It's worth the minor adjustment for this mount considering it's cost effectiveness and how well it works. Other AR mounts also work and there are a number of choices out there.

The eye relief. I'd like more from this scope. But if you turn the gas setting down and aren't firing ridiculously hot loads then you shouldn't have any worries about scope bite. Other scopes such as the Conquest have 3.5" (Correction listed as 4" for the 3-9x)I believe. The Burris has 3.1-3.8" eye relief. It like the Leupold and many other scopes has a changing eye relief with magnification. I prefer fixed like the NF and Ziess Conquest scopes. I would prefer more eye relief with the Burris but it works ok. So far it hasn't been a problem though, so it's staying. Also when shooting offhand it's not an issue. This seems to be more noticeable when shooting the RFB benched.

There are lots of scope options. I just happen to like this one for the 3-9x 40mm, the 95% light transmission glass, and the Ballistic plex reticle. They can be found new for around the $200 mark (Have bought a few at this price now). They also make a 2-7x to consider, however the deals seem to be mostly on the 3-9x. Other scopes such as the Zeiss Conquest are excellent with 4" of constant eye relief, Rapid Z reticle etc. But you're looking around $500 for one. There are lots of options out there. Just not too many in the best buy category, which the Fullfield II is when you can find one on sale.

One other thing to consider. If you're planning on having your barrel threaded for a compensator then the eye relief is even less of an issue. Personally I think this may be on my list eventually. The RFB is a very short .308 rifle. It's controllable but it has some jump. A compensator might be nice on this for faster follow up shots.

Other scopes to consider and look into: NF (very expensive), Zeiss Conquest, Leupold including the Redfield line which they make. I have seen a 3-9x Redfield for $200 new before as well. It was pretty nice. Although I personally did prefer the Burris. Bushnell Elite (4200 or better only for equal glass to the Burris), Vortex (have heard good things but never tried one), I'd also check out Sightron's line. Lots to chose from. Plus you can also go with a tactical scope in the 1-4x range. The choices are really endless.

On a side note, the Mepro M21 reflex site with bullseye reticle and quick release from my Tavor works well with the RFB. Unlike my Eotech which sites too wide and interferes with the charging handle.
