Bought off the EE a few months ago. Finish was in rough condition when I got it so I bead blasted the whole rifle and rubbed it down with fine steel wool for a nice matte finish.

The tupperware stock was replaced with a Boyds laminate and the barreled action was bedded. A grind-to-fit limbsaver recoil pad was also installed.

Taking her out tonight to see how it shoots.

(don't mind the one mismatched scope ring - havent had a chance to bead blast it yet)

Good stuff. I kinda like the black diamond coat finish on the Alaskan, but I see they are not offering it anymore.

Those are sweet rifles. Love the laminate. My Remington .338 RUM sports the silver laminate too and I love the colour. Can't beat it for durability too. Congrats on the rifle.

I hate the target-grey color the hawkeye rifles are coated with.

Had the rifle out the other night just getting it sighted in. Lots of fun!

I'm heading out to the range next week to put a few more rounds through it and hopefully start to see some groups with my various handloads.

On another note, I may be partially retarded using Hornady dies. Having trouble getting the bullets to seat properly without crushing the necks. I just posted in the RELOADING section so hopefully someone can help me out.

If the dies didnt come with the rifle I would have went with what I know, RCBS dies.

First guess Is your die set to low? I always leave a alot of room between my seating die and the case shellholder when the ram is all the way up. This way there should be no problems...
If not Measure your bullet and the inside of a resized case. This will give you your tension, it shouldn't be more than .005 I think. You can measure the wall thickness and a loaded round aswell..

Nice looking Rifle, looks new to me.:)

Hope it was SS wool for sure. We never use any carbon steel products near stainless steel finishes to eliminate oxidation setting into the surface from the steel that was introduced there.

How true. Used to see it happen in the mill when someone forgot and used carbon steel steel wool or a carbon steel wire brush on a stainless surface.

That is one nice looking combo = d*mn it now you have messed me up...

I've been looking for a middle velocity 375 cal cartridge that gives performance 1/2 way between my 375JDJ & my 375RUM to replace my 30-06 for a while now one of the criteria's was due to me having a major thing for s/s black/gray laminate rifle combo's I just couldn't find or decide on what cartridge/rifle combo to go with...

Oh the spewing that will go on if I ever purchase a 375 Ruger will never end...

OK I regained my composure I'll pass...

:p

Do it Cam....Give in to the NEW KING. :)

All kidding aside, it's a fantastic cartridge and meets your middle ground requirement perfectly. Heck, you like 700's...have one built on a 700.
