My new-to-me Cooey Model 60

Unfortunately, there's no paperwork in the box, just the box itself.

Here's a pic of the labelled end of the box -

It certainly is a mystery! We know for a fact that the gun is as-made by Cooey, yet despite all the research I've done, I haven't seen another one with a stock like this, and Google hasn't revealed a similar stock. The more I look at the gun, the more I like it!

You never know. Maybe a few were made like that and for some reason Cooey opted not to continue them. If only a few were made they would be quite scarce which would explain why not many are seen. The only other thing would be if it was a special order request which apparently it wasn't. Unless the store it was purchased from ordered so many from Cooey that way.

Here's a few more pics of the stock, showing a little more detail (not great pics, but...) -

- Finger grooves in front of forestock:

Quite nice, actually - has a nice "hold"!

Unfortunately not. I did take the bolt out, even - no more markings anywhere! Too bad - I, too, would have liked to see the "Made in Toronto" on there somewhere.

I'd hazard a guess that that stock is an early one and that the finger groove and pistol grip detail were expensive and time consuming to manufacture [even in those days] and so the stock lines were simplified a short time later......thus not many of them around.

That's not an early stock as it is not the right style. The model 60 came out around 1939 and the op said his dad bought it in the 1950's, long after the model 60 was introduced. Before the model 60, it was just called the Cooey Repeater. They had a finger channel but it ran the full length of the forearm. Plus the pistol grip was different as was the whole dimensional configuration of the stock.
