Just picked up a Savage 116 338 Win Mag. The stock was a little beat up, but a little sanding and paint, and it didn't come out too bad.:)

It is pre accutrigger, with a fixed factory muzzle brake. I was hoping it would be the adjustable on/off style like the new ones, but no such luck.

Does anyone have experince with these factory brakes? How painfully loud are they?

Good on you for picking up a "man" gun. Noise? well I'll guess you should find out real soon (bring some ear plugs). :D

X2 on the hearing protection. And dont pull that trigger if someone around you isn't wearing any. You'll find out pretty soon just how friggin loud they are. Might make shooting it easier on the shoulder though.

I was firing the range with someone beside me with a muzzlebrake, what a pain in the ass..... they are extremely loud and I was wearing ear protection. I would never fire one without it. I will take the recoil rather than taking a chance of permenantly damaging my hearing.
