After a great dealing with another cgner, I am the proud owner of a Daniell Defence v5.

Bone stock so not really worth posting pictures but first things first, I need a set of BUIS.

I like the Midwest Industries BUIS that ce on my XCR-M so I'm seriously considering them however I've heard great things about the Troy set. Any experiences with the magpul mbus? I'm not a huge fan of the regular magpul ones.

As for optics, I'm thinking ill run my aimpoint but I'm open to ideas also as the 16" barrel gives me some options. Maybe a 1-4?

Nice purchase, let us know how it shoots once you get it to the range.

Personally I'd skip the BUIS, if you buy a quality optic you don't need to worry about your optic failing and since it's a range only toy you don't need to worry about it going dead when you need it most and you probably won't be taking the rifle into battle so it's not like you can't just stop and change the battery or swap out the optic if you have problems. I have a set of Magpul flip up sights on a couple of my rifles but only because they came on the rifle, after zeroing them I've never used them since. The money would be better spent on ammunition or increasing your optics budget.

Depending on your budget I like the Hi-Lux CMR 1-4 for glass in the $400 price range, It has a great reticle and the glass is really good for a scope in it's price range. It's also the only optic you'll find under $500 that offers zero-stop. If you can go higher I was very impressed with my ACOG, if you can go higher yet my Elcan Specter DR is amazing, nothing in the 1-4 class has as clear of glass as that thing and it's built like a tank. Only downside to it is the weight. Good deals can be found on the EE for an ACOG or a Specter.
Other good options for variable magnification while still letting you shoot in close would be the Vortex 1-6 or my favorite the Sightron 1-7.

I've learned that if you cheap out on glass you'll just end up upgrading it down the road once you have a chance to look through someone else's scope and you see how much better it is looking through quality glass. It really is worth the money to spend as much as you can afford to and to hold off and save a little longer if your budget doesn't allow you to buy what you would like.
You bought a nice rifle so it should wear nice glass.

Any experiences with the leupold cq/t ? I had a chance to handle an AR15 with one mounted. It seemed really nice. Glass was crisp and the reticle was really clean.

I think they're in the 1500 range.
 
Congrats. I'm running the new Bushnell AR optics 1-4x24mm PCL and I'm quite surprised at the clarity of them. So far they're holding zero. $300.
 
So I took my rifle to the Abbotsford fish and game club to shoot with Abbotsford Tactical Shooters.

The rifle ran fantastic! Just threw a little extra oil on the BCG and in the trigger group. Put out 200 rounds without a hiccup.
I think ill strip it down, clean it and try to frog lube it (already purchased).

The next debate is whether to buy the Daniel Defense mk18. That way I can sell off my other ar's.

Looks good....looks like a good range I wish ours had something a little more suited for freestanding shooting or even shooting while moving
 
Back up iron sight is all pretty much personal preference, I currently have MI, Troy and Magpul on my rifles and to be honest they all work the same none of them really stands out unless you look at the tritium ones.

As for optics that new Vortex 3X Spitfire looks promising, it is lighted crosshair and ring instead of a red dot, so it doesn't look like a star if you don't have 20 year old eyes anymore.
 
Yea I ended up sourcing Troy micro sights. I like the design and function and they seem stout.

The aimpoint will have to do for now, though I'm a little envious of the trijicon my dad put on his tavor.
 
I guess it is all personal preference. Magnified optics go on my long range rig. 1MOA dot on my Eotech is fine out to 500 yards. If you find magnification is holding you back , that's another story.
