If you like it, you hang onto it.
If I sold everything I ever got, just because somebody else wanted it, I wouldn't have ANY left.
But I do have this habit of hanging onto things because I like them, too.
Buffdog and Tinman204 both have seen some of what I have picked up over the years, Twosteam has seen a few more. I think any of them will agree that I have put together a fair sampling of what is out there.
But if you sell everything as soon as the dollar is right, you are not a collector, you're a dealer. I was offered $200 more for my Armageurra 39 than I paid for it....... but I kept it. I have the distinct PLEASURE of possessing one of perhaps THREE Armaguerras in the country..... and a couple of slips of plastic do not compensate for the loss which that pleasure affords me.
YOU have a very nice old 1897 Winchester which Bubba has NOT been at and which is in rather a nice state of preservation. It has come down to you from the men who made it, 102 years ago. To me, it sounds like a fine centrepiece to a Collection.
If you LIKE it, hang onto it. If you USE it, that's fine, too: just don't ABUSE it and it's good for another 102 years. You can make up your mind as to selling it THEN.
Just my take on things.
Hope this helps.
