This is the reason behind my recent holster and speedloader threads, a gently used S&W Model 66-1 with 6" barrel. Will be heading out to the range on sunday to give it a test drive on the steel plates.

Any flame cutting issues in the top strap?

Mine had some after shooting a bunch of hot .357 mag ammo. Just be careful if you intend to shoot a lot of those.

Very light marking there, nothing significant. I plan on shooting light cast bullet loads for the most part, with a bit of hot stuff just to enjoy the bigger bangs.

The flame cutting was an issue with hot 125gr magnum loads, not much if anything with heavier bullet loads. As stated elsewhere, I have an early 80's vintage 4" 66 that has seen thousands of rounds of Magnum loads under the old Lyman 358156 gas-checked SWC at 1200 +/- with no ill effect...

sweet. I have a lightly moded M65 4" i use for idpa and love. Is your's an older gun? I notice the recesses cut for the rims, like my older M27's have. CLASSY!
