Couldn't figure out how to edit this into my old thread. Well, I cut 3/4" off the buttstock of my freshly barrel shortened Lakefield/Mossberg 400G. I wasn't too keen on the colour of the wood, so I sanded it down after I cut it, restained it with ebony coloured wood stain and applied high gloss seal to it. The gloss should mellow out once it get used a bit. Plus, it hasn't fully dried yet in these photos. But, I present to you, my new and roughly finished truck gun:
Freshly sanded, prepped for staining. Beverage of choice is Irish whiskey but I suppose others could be substituted:
Two coats of stain, sanded, and two coats of high gloss 80% dried on top. Used Manbearpigs advice to grind the recoil pad down to size of the new buttstock, worked pretty well I'd say:
Same as above, slightly more work to keep the detail in the foregrip clean of ebony stain:
My assembled truck gun, shortened barrel and shortened and re-stained stock:

Way too cool!! Now I'm thinking the same with my old (free) winchester.
