So, I'd been looking at rigging out a 10/22 but I started adding up the numbers:

Ruger 10/22 $350
Heavy BBL $200-400
Match Trigger $200-400
Stock $100
Match Bolt $100

Total $900-1200 and you're still stuck with a Ruger based set-up

So I started looking around, considered a HB 10/22, or copying what a few friends have done and buy a used one and option it up, then I came across the Volq website. I sent them an email asking about imports to Canada, they gave me a contact and 2 months later my new Volq 22 arrived in the mail today...unfortunately I have not figured out how to add pics yet  so no pics yet, but all I can say is wow, what a sweet set-up. The craftsmanship is a sight to behold, the BBL with compensator is a work of art and the trigger, wow, it might move 0.5 mm, I now know what the expression "breaks like glass" is talking about, have never had one even close to that.

If I figure out how to insert pics I'll get them up.......

Very nice!! You may regret getting it with the compensator as it is a magnet for debris but it can be removed. I removed mine on my VQ 10/22 barrel and i wasn't that hard.

Very nice

Yeah, it was pricey but I've worked my butt off at work last year and it was my reward with my bonus money. When I priced out a full upgrade with everything but the ruger action it was going to run about $900-1000....this cost me about $1300 and I get the machined SS Volq action which you cannot get in Canada as a stand alone item, you're basically stuck with the mass produced Ruger. Is it worth it...probably not, but who cares, it'll be the only one in the group of 10/22's, etc that I shoot with.

Came with Hogue stock.

Range report will be delayed I suspect, we got a foot of snow overnight :( You'd need scuba gear to reach the targets right now.

I had same concern about compensator, but I like the look vs. the bland standard BBL, but the fancy BBL's are not me.

I forgot what you told me about this VQ, is it the standard model? I see the standard model on the VQ website has no compensator, did you ask for one as an option?

What caliber is it in? I think you mentioned .17 HM2?

It's the standard model, for 2010 you can basically custom build so the compensator was $40 I think.

I went 22, I already have another bolt 17 in mind.

I bought from Sylvestre Source for Sports in Bonnyville, AB. They are the distributor for Volq in Canada. Call and ask for Mitch or Todd. With the dollar at par they are selling them for the same price as the Volq website plus $200 import fee. When I talked to Mitch this week he mentioned that deliveries were now 14-16 weeks...the economy is picking up and folks are starting to get ready for summer.
