Just received my first firearm today from Wanstall's. Its the new Winchester SXP 'Defender' 12g. Here's the first 'out of the box' pics, range report with more pics will follow:D

Overall I'm extremely happy with my first purchase. It was a close race between the SXP, the 870 and the 500. This gun just seemed to 'feel' better in the store. The gun is fairly light with its aluminum receiver and the recoil pad is extremely soft. Price was not bad at $349. Probably be a couple weeks before I get to shoot it, but I'm sure there will be lots of caressing untill then:p
More to come.....:ar15:

Ive been looking at these as a cheap quad gun, felt good in my hands at the store. I had to do a double take on the grip as I thought it was a hogue stock. The stippling is that grippy. I'm interested to hear how it shoots and mostly how reliable it is.

Nice to see some pics of these. I almost believed they were a myth up here since retailers have been advertising them for so long and no one seems to own one.

What is that Wanstalls item in the second pic? It looks like a mouse pad.

Well i made it to the range today and I must say I'm impressed. I fired 50 rounds of the cheap Winchester Universal 7.5 shot today and the gun worked flawlessly. It cycled every round smoothly and the trigger felt really crisp. The forend felt good in my hand and the gun fels light while shouldering. The only thing that shocked me was even with the super soft recoil pad the SXP still bruised my shoulder.
Anyways i had a blast with it today just shooting paper and I look forward to trying skeet soon.

This 12g is awesome! I've cycled roughly 300 rounds of various ammo thru it ans it just eats them up. Here's a pic of the various ammo and a short vid of shooting #7.5 shot, then a 3'' Federal slug and lastly a 3'' Winchester slug

I'm thinking about getting one just as an overall fun/cheap shotgun, I'm just wondering if an 18" barrel would be useless for shooting hand tossed clays?

screw the gun how good is the mouse pad? is it grippy or does it slide everywhere? haha!

It's great. Doesn't slide around at all and is comfy if you rest your wrist on it. Only cost me $600 but it came with a free lever action 357.
