I love these old guns. it dates to 1929
Looks like a really nice one! I think that configuration of carbine is termed an "eastern carbine" because of no saddle ring but still having the older style front sight and buttstock. I see it has a walnut stock and forend instead of gumwood - very nice. I love them too! Cheers, Don.

looks pretty sharp, nice find!
I have a 25-35 carbine from that same time period - 1928 - that has the same Marble sight and it looks like it's been there from day 1. According to the Winchester book they would supply whatever sight a customer wanted but even if it was put on soon after it was sold it doesn't matter because it's from the proper time period. That's a nice looking, original carbine and I think a real keeper!

Yours in a Model 94 carbine. As I mentioned earlier, Winchester made the change in name designation from the Model 1894 to the Model 94 in 1919.
Also, I wouldn't call it an "Eastern" carbine. That terms gets thrown around alot, but is not always an accurate description. I should know, I've done it before myself. "Eastern" Carbines were made for a few years before Winchester eliminated the saddle ring as a standard feature in late 1924, 1925 (circa serial number 950,000). Yours was made in 1929, I think you said,by which time, they were made standard sans saddle ring / stud. Saddle rings could still be ordered as a no cost option up to circa 1940.
