My newest Hunting Rifle/Now with PICS!!

-37 and wont go shooting, your such a girly man.
Back in the days when i worked up North we considered those temps. tee shirt and shorts weather. LOL

All kidding aside, I like your rig very much.

The weather finally broke! -10c and a moderate breeze 15kph
Almost perfect for shooting groups. The Ruger #1 is no longer a virgin, average groups were sub MOA @ 100mtrs using H4350 and Speer 270gr bullets. Had a notable last group prior to packing up and heading for a hot cup of coffee!

I'm not saying that she will shoot like this all the time but pretty close to it.
Avg. velocity was 2465FPS and the cases literaly drop out of the chamber.

Great group RockChucker!! Excellant! On the topic guys, one quick question. How does everyone usually measure a group size? Outside to outside of the bullet holes or center to center? I've always gone center to center but after the picture, I was wondering what the commom practice is.

Yes, proper way is to measure outside to outside and subtract one caliber. Figured I would leave the math up to who ever feels that they just have to know to the .0001" My only concern is where the first bullet hits out of a cold barrel. The rest of the group is just icing on the cake!

PS: She isn't for sale yet!

Thanks guy. In reality and with the same degree of accuracy, either ends up being the same thing for the most part. Again, nice group.;)

very nice gun ,good group.Isn't it cool to go out and shoot a group like that with a new gun.broke my 325 wsm in last year shot 3 in 7/8 at 150 I looked like a new daddy for days.

Awesome Rifle

Thats an awesome rig i love single shots too unfortunately the ruger #1 doesnt fit me. I wish they did ive owned several and never found one that fit.

RockChucker,
A very nice, classy rifle - Congratulations! I want one too, hope that they come available in some numbers soon.
I'd like to come and see your rifle some day when I come in to Whitehorse.

Brilliant buy, Rockchucker. :)
What's more, some astounding groups.
The cool thing is that if you get ambitious and aren't afraid of a little recoil you could load the thing to buggery and probably catch a 375 H&H.
That super-strong action really gives you some serious possibilities. :)
On the other hand even pretty anaemic loads, say around the 1800-2000fps mark, will seriously inconvenience a black bear or deer and if my suspicions are correct it could be a lot like the 444 Marlin in that situation i.e. low levels of bloodshot meat.
You could even play with black powder, that is if you can be bothered with the cleaning afterward.
So yeah, I'm officially jealous. :D
