This pretty little red followed me home last week, I guess she decided that the other red's that had followed me home needed a more mature outlook.
I picked up a Mosin Nagant 91/30 to go with my 1941 Tula factory SVT40 and my 1950 Tula factory SKS.
I had planned on a range day last week on Wednesday, but due to having a migraine headache from Hades, I had to postpone that until this week. This morning ,I loaded the rifles that I wanted to fire today, and the cases of ammo ( 1 of each type ) for the SKS and Mosin/SVT40 into my truck and headed to the range, I got to the range at just after 1000hrs this morning and unloaded the truck and got set for a day of shooting ( was on the range for 5 hours
). Of course the first rifle I used today was the 91/30, man what a blast, my shoulder IS a little on the sore side as I sit here typing this, but what a hoot. All of the old service rifles that I currently own, which are the three red's and a Lee Enfield Mk4 No1 have way more manageable recoil than the FN C1A1 ever did. I was in the 1705 BCD Cadet Corps in Vernon BC in the mid-late 80's and very early 90's, and I was one of the (un)fortunate ones who got to fire the FN C1A1 before they were taken away from the cadet corps in the 90's. I can remember having a very sore shoulder after a day spent on the range firing the FN. I have no problem firing the SVT40 or the Mosin Nagant for a course of fire that is 20 rounds ( the mag limit on the FN C1A1 ).
The next time I hit the range for a day of shooting, I will be taking a family picture of all the red's that I have and I will post them here for you folk's to see ( again )
