Almost finished…

It has been a long time since I made a stock. I don't do them for anyone else any longer, just for myself.

Dual dovetail mounts, 3.5-10 Boone and Crockett, Kwik-Klip, skinny 2-pound trigger. This was my old moose rifle in a different stock and shot very well.

Made from a nice piece of quarter-sawn walnut, I am going to install a ½ inch decel pad and then hollow out the butt a bit. I may checker and carve it at a later date but it feels so good I may not… the finish is old Flecto # 66 oil finish.

That does look very nice. Do you have a stock duplicator, or did you do the whole thing by hand?

Outstanding work! Thanks for sharing.

The grain looks absolutely perfect and the great stain application brings it out even more. I can see why you don't make them for other people any more. Based on the amount of time I think you put, into making this beauty, the price would rightly be quite high...

It was a slightly over size semi inlet a friend in Colorado supplied. He picked that quarter-sawn blank from a bunch and machined it. A great piece with excellent grain structure.

No stain, just finely sanded and the Flecto #66 finish applied. A few coats and then wet sanded with 600 grit and hand rubbed a bit.

As it sits - just under 7 & 3/4 pounds.

That is very nice Denis. Any chance you are going to put a 1/2 Pac pad and some nice 22 lpi checkering on it? :D
What did you do for the cosmetic finish on the action?

Anything short of artist and gunsmith in the same senteence would not do you justice. It looks very nice. When do you plan on sharing some groups with us not so secret admirers?
