You can't go wrong with either of those... I have owned a few of each... but I bailed out on the 6.5's a couple years back... I am feeling the itch again though.
 
Really.....if its for your wife get a 308.....if its really for you get someting cool...338...375....heck even 30/06
 
Here is what I suspect , she will come shooting once I n a while but getting her up for an early morning hunt ... I have a better chance to retrain the deer to become active in the afternoon when she would be willing to come, so I suspect it will end up for me.
 
Never forget the year my brother bought his wife an autloader 20 gauge for Christmas....shoulda seen the look on her face....dont think she ever used it even once....they are divorced now:)
 
My wife routinely gets me presents for her dad. Things I hate (a ****ing fig tree?!? For our condo?!?) that we can "keep" at her parent's place. Things he just happens to want.

She got a bottle of wine for her birthday. I used the rest of the money to buy a Tikka.
