My next rimfire? Fun shooter for friendly competition.

Sorry I should have explained it better. The design and function of the 64 action is similar to the more simple designs if the savage and Marlin actions. Quality of the machining on the 64 is above the 452's for sure. Accuracy is good too.

^^ Yeah I follow that thinking. Same basic cocking mechanism, single lug on the bolt handle, pull trigger to remove bolt, sear acts as bolt stop. You can see the difference in machining quality in the firing pin/striker as you go from Savage to CZ to Anschütz. The 64 is smooth from the start, the others smooth out with use. My MKII became wicked smooth before I sold it.

Yep I agree! I looked at my 9 year old 452 varmint bolt internals and then I looked at a 452 varmint internals dated 2013 and couldn't believe how much better machine and smoother the parts were in my 9 year old 452 varmint! Huge difference! They are slacking more and more! If I was going with the traditional rimfire action design I would for sure go for a 64 action no questions asked. I appreciate the bolt stop and feel of a mini centre fire action so to speak on a rimfire rifle. So that's a big reason the 54 is my cup of tea :)

With an Anschutz 1416D, a CZ455 American and a recently acquired Cooper 57 JSR the field is wide open.
As I have said many times . . . what I have spent on CZ's would have had a 1710 or 1712 in the stable but then the fun would be over.
Unfortunately they all seem to have a preference for the Remington Eley Match which is am trying to preserve for my 40XBR.
