Hi all,
I managed to find a « new in box»; yes you read right: brand new in its original box, with papers and all in its factory packing grease, Remington 40X in .22lr.
The rifle was bought more than 40 years ago by a collector and was kept, unfired in a humidity controlled room. This is the « R » model that was a later version of the famous 40X, sitting in a prone stock. here are a few pics of the beast, as I received it. I have not cleaned it yet so you will see smudges and grease on pics.
I intend to properly scope it and try to shoot it with the original stock first but I think that for serious bench rest, I will put a Jewel trigger and put all in a true BR stock in a near future. You will notice that the barrell is shorter than the usual 40X's. This barrell is 24 inches.
