Took a few pics of my Norc 1911A1 last night and thought I would share. It is my first hand gun and was purchased 2nd hand from a CGN board member. I just recently added the OD ERGO grips.

Thanks guys.

It shoots flawlessly! (except when the floorplate on your mag breaks and ammo and spring go shooting out the bottom of your gun..lol..was a good laugh)

Been having a lot of fun with it.

I noticed after market grip safey, hammer, extened safety, trigger & grips. The sights look diffearnt too. Do you mind if I ask what you paid for it? What are your groupings like?

I paid around $400 for it shipped and just added the ERGO grips ($30). As for the groupings...they are kinda poop because I suck  so I dont have any real good grouping data yet.

FIRST thing to do is get new sights

...and that would be a bad thing why? They are higher profile yes, but also easier to pick up. So what am I missing here??

Not suggesting it is a bad thing. I was just pointing out to Musky Hunter that the sights are already improved, compared to the stock ones.

Well you got your moneys worth just with the add on parts. Somebody invested a few dollars into the gun.

I find white dots or any coloured dots too much of a distraction for serious target work. Try blackening them out and see how your target groups. Just hold the flame from candle a few inches away so the suet(?) blackens them. Don't let the flame actually touch the sights. You can wipe the blackness of afterwords. There is some spray on, removable stuff you can buy too.

It might tighten up your groups a little bit.

Cool! Thanks for the tip! I will deffinatley give it a try!

I like those sights ! Boneman, you done good on the transaction. That aftermarket grip safety looks like it was well done. Nice and smooth. Shoot and shoot that Norc and while you are getting better, save your money. You will be glad that you are improving instead of buying a $ 1000 + .45 and then you can't afford ammo to practice with.

Now if I could only find a source for those exact sights.... maybe I should give Gunnar at Armco a shout.....

Good job, Boneman!

Cheers,
Barney

I guess its just personal experience...

i prefer flat black sights that are low profile. I find them more accurate and give a very clear sight picture.

You will also find they are less likely to snag and catch on your gear.

Why is that?

Barney, i had a custom colt 45 that gunner did up. He actually designed a very similar sight. I had the front very thin around 0.10-0.11. It was great for IPSC but would snag in my 3 gun gear.
